Top J-Pop Group JO1 Releases Their Fifth Anniversary Album BE CLASSIC
JO1's "Best Of" album has just been released to celebrate the band's fifth anniversary since their debut. The album contains five new songs, including the title track "BE CLASSIC," which samples Beethoven's “Fifth Symphony,” known as the “Of Destiny." “BE CLASSIC,” which was pre-released on March 24, is currently ranked No. 1 on Billboard Japan Download Songs and Billboard Japan Hot Shot Songs as of April 2. Japan's Oricon Chart, a major music chart, also ranked the album No. 1 in the daily sales at release.
The music video for "BE CLASSIC" has received more than 10 million views just nine days after its release.
The track is a rearranged version of their debut single, initially released in advance to mark the anniversary, along with 39 previously released songs selected based on fan (JAM) votes. This makes it an album that truly encompasses JO1's past and present. Fresh off their first U.S. tour, they plan to release a fully re-recorded English version of "BE CLASSIC” to be released by the end of April.
Their slogan, "Go to the TOP," reflects their ambition to become a timeless classic that will never lose value over time.
In addition to the title track "BE CLASSIC," the album includes three-unit songs: the trap dance track "EZPZ," which showcases their skills; the old-school hip hop song "Hottie with the Hot Tea," which highlights their irresistible charm, and "Be There For You," a heartfelt message of hope to loved ones. The album also features "Bon Voyage," composed by REN, JUNKI, and SYOYA, with lyrics written by all the members to express gratitude and hope for their fans. Lastly, "INFINITY 2025" offers a rearrangement of their debut single, providing insight into how the members have grown. "Feel the Classics" is an album that showcases the unique talents that only JO1 can deliver.
