1. Summer Storm
“Summer Storm” is the first track off the album, which also has an accompanying music video to mark her comeback and celebrate her 10th anniversary. “Summer Storm” is a song that details looking back on a past relationship and the yearning to return to a happier time. Jessica sings of wanting to go back to spending summer storms together with her former lover. While this song is rather sad, as it reminisces about the past, the track itself has a light, upbeat melody that many will enjoy dancing along to. Despite the sad meaning, the music video features bright colors, all while inducing a feeling of nostalgia. It appears as though Jessica also manages to have some sort of inner celebration as depicted in the video. Fans and viewers can also interpret this moment as being a result of the joy of her 10th anniversary.
2. Beautiful Mind
Picking up the pace of the album, “Beautiful Mind” is another light pop-ballad song that will have fans and listeners up and dancing along. If you have previously listened to her solo releases, you would know that Jessica likes to write songs based on empowerment and encouragement. In “Beautiful Mind,” Jessica is directly telling her listeners and fans that they have a beautiful mind and that they are promising individuals. Jessica does not want the audience to be discouraged in life, so she offers everyone reassurance. “Beautiful Mind” is an inspiring song that many will enjoy while also feeling rejuvenated through the lyrics.
3. Saturday Night
Usually when Saturday night comes around, it means letting loose and having some fun. That is exactly what Jessica’s “Saturday Night” is about. She encourages fans to go out and party. “Saturday Night” is another bright, upbeat track from the mini-album that many will enjoy listening to. Jessica sends the message that it is fine to let yourself go at times and just have fun. She mentions that maybe the next day there will be some regrets, but what truly matters is that you stayed true to your heart. Once in awhile, it is okay to be carefree and enjoy yourself.
4. Love U
“Love U” is an acoustic track off the album, which manages to change things up a bit. Continuing with the universal theme of love that can be seen throughout the release, “Love U” is a song about confessing your feelings to someone. In “Love U,” Jessica sings of how her heart once was closed, but because of a single person, she finds herself realizing she is in love and eventually confessing. The song is soft and soothing, which awakens one’s urge to sway back and forth to the melody. You can’t help but fall in love yourself as you listen to the song and Jessica’s soft vocals.
5. Starry Night
Going back to the theme of reminiscing on a relationship, “Starry Night” is the brighter half to “Summer Storm,” as the song is about looking back on how the relationship eventually came to be. While “Summer Storm” is more of a goodbye song and one about longing, “Starry Night” is a track that details the beginning of one’s feelings and the process of realizing that those feelings have blossomed into love. This song is also perfect for the end of summer, as we begin to say goodbye to days in which we stay up late and have fun, and instead say hello to autumn as the nights become cooler. It is also a great song to listen to while star gazing! Once again, Jessica does not disappoint with a track that many people will surely listen and relate to.
6. 봄이라서 그래 (Because It’s Spring)
Though it is not spring at the moment, “봄이라서 그래 (Because It’s Spring)” is a jazz-influenced track that many will instantly appreciate. This particular song is well-suited for spring, and listeners and fans may be eager for the season to come back after listening to “봄이라서 그래 (Because It’s Spring).” With all the jazz tones present throughout the song, it will feel as if you’re in a 50s movie, with the screen transitioning from black and white to color right in front of your eyes. “봄이라서 그래 (Because It’s Spring)” is a song that one would find playing in the many vintage coffee shops frequently visited to get away from the hustle and bustle of the loud streets. Paired with Jessica’s sweet vocals, one cannot deny the catchiness and light, airy feeling that this song brings, making it one of the best songs off the mini-album!
Jessica does not disappoint with her latest mini-album, which you should definitely listen to if you haven’t already. This album is highly recommended for your music library, and we also encourage that you listen to her previous albums as well. Congratulations to Jessica on her 10th debut anniversary! Here’s to hoping she releases more work in the future!
