Throwback Thursday: Underrated Girl Group Releases

Welcome back to another Throwback Thursday! In previous weeks, we looked at some of the underrated releases from boy groups and solo artists, and now we are ending with looking at some of the underrated releases from the ladies of K-Pop!

“We are a bit different” - EvoL

Here is a girl group that never quite saw the popularity that they deserved. Housed under Stardom Entertainment and known as the female Block B (as the boy group was previously the girl group’s labelmate) EvoL’s debut track, “We are a bit different” is a funky song that will get you up and dancing along. It is unfortunate that the group is no longer together and active, but they were one of the first girl groups in K-Pop to tackle the girl crush concept successfully. With their powerful vocals and sharp rap, you cannot help but get into this girl group. It is quite a shame that this talented girl group did not get more promotions as they have much potential to be a powerhouse girl group. Fun Fact: their group name is “LOVE” spelled backwards!

“Every Night” - EXID

When you think of EXID, you think about “Up & Down” and all the hit tracks following up after it, but those who are still getting into the girl group tend to miss that they have been around for quite some time. “Every Night” is much more mellow and chill compared to their recent hits but is true to the sexy style that they have perfected. “Every Night” features a more muted color palette as it is a darker themed song and music video. It is a refreshing twist as more recently we are treated to fun and upbeat dance tracks, and “Every Night” is often overlooked and highly underrated in favor of these upbeat songs. Nonetheless, like their other releases, this is a song you don’t want to miss out on, and if you still haven’t gotten into EXID, please give this highly recommended girl group a listen!

Caution: Please do not watch if you have just eaten or are about to eat.

“Jeon Won Diary” - T-ARA N4

Closing out this week’s Throwback Thursday, we are taking a look at T-ARA’s sub-unit, T-ARA N4 with their single, “Jeon Won Diary.” T-ARA N4 consists of Hyomin, Eunjung, Jiyeon, and former member Areum. Not many newer K-Pop fans know the magic of T-ARA in their prime with their hits like “Roly Poly”, “Lovey Dovey,” and “Sexy Love” and most of all some are not even aware that the girl group also had a sub-unit! “Jeon Won Diary” is T-ARA N4’s only single that they have released, but the song is so catchy and fun, there is no doubt that you’ll have it stuck in your head. Like the previous girl groups, it is such a shame that this particular song did not catch on and blow up with popularity as it should have. Check out their dance video for “Jeon Won Diary” that also features the members of SPEED dancing alongside T-ARA N4, and get ready to party with them!

That’s it for this week’s Throwback Thursday! Stay tuned as we bring another round of throwback hits next Thursday. You may just see your favorites appear, or discover a group that you have not listened to yet!
