B-Sides: Staff Picks Final

The staff here at The Kraze is composed of a unique group of people with different tastes in music and different favorites among K-Pop groups and songs. This week we asked some of the members to share their favorite B-Sides from their favorite groups.

"Been Through" - EXO

The whole of Universe goes to show EXO's ability at tackling basically any genre. Above all, it proves that EXO's real strength lies in their sensible and emotional performance, which reaches to incredible heights on the track "Been Through." The presence of guitars and drums in the song gives it a raw touch without sounding unfinished or rough. It's just perfect for the mellow beat of the song and the quiet melody it carries. The lyrics, too, are noteworthy. "Been Through" is thoughtful yet uplifting, both in its words and in its sound.

"Untold Story" - Playback

This is a bouncy, spunky track that I feel really solidifies Playback's sound. Although it's light and flirtatious, the lyrics are an honest confession of confusing feelings when it comes to love. This shows that Playback isn't just a one-hit wonder, but rather a group that can compete in the big league.

“Sweet Love” - Taeyeon

This song brings out the romantic tone of Taeyeon's big, powerful voice. She belts out the passion from within her soul, delivering this exquisite R&B-esque tune. The delicate verses build up and explode in the chorus, supporting Taeyeon's thick tone. “Sweet Love” has to be one of the most romantic songs in K-Pop.

"Stuck" - MONSTA X

MONSTA X may as well be labelled the kings of bops, since it seems that every single song they release goes off in one way or another. “Stuck” has an incredibly catchy chorus that is guaranteed to get stuck in your head (that pun was unintentional, I swear), and rap line Jooheon and I.M have the most insane verses in the song that really showcase their rapping abilities. Not to mention the choreography and outfits are totally on point. If you’re not stanning MONSTA X yet, you’re missing out.

“Grrr 총량의 법칙” - Stray Kids

Stray Kids still haven’t debuted yet, but they’re following the popular pre-release schedule that’s swept up the Hallyu Wave recently. Stray Kids have proven to be a group that is definitely going to be releasing intense bangers, and “Grrr 총량의 법칙” exemplifies that perfectly. With a melody and beat going at full speed from the beginning of the track, not one moment of this song slows down. The lyrics match the intense melody, expressing the feelings of the angsty and angry teen inside all of us. Don’t deny it; this song brings out the rebel in you upon first listen.
