Throwback Thursday: Best of f(x)

This week is dedicated to f(x) as we take a look back at some of the older releases from this iconic and popular girl group for Throwback Thursday! Although fans are patiently waiting for the return of the girl group to the K-Pop music scene, we can’t help but miss them dearly and wonder when they could be making a comeback. That is why we’re taking a look at some of the best from f(x)!

“NU ABO”

Taking it back to their first mini-album and 2010 hit, “NU ABO” is one catchy and addictive song that you simply can’t skip. Long time fans of this girl group know the dance by heart to the point  that by the time the “na na na” part of the chorus kicks in, you’re already doing the dance without realizing it. “NU ABO” also was part of the era of fashion that blended the eclectic mix-and-match meets streetwear, with each member showing off their personality and charm through their particular outfits. It’s definitely great to see how the girls have come so far and grown musically, and “NU ABO” is certainly a gem amongst their vast collection of music.

“피노키오 (Danger)”

While f(x) is known for their electro-pop fusion style of music since their “Chu~” release, ”피노키오 (Danger)” is considerably the start of when the girl group truly found their signature style of music. ”피노키오 (Danger)” takes a more futuristic concept, playing around with different 3D and geometric shapes and sets that make this particular music video so eye-catching. While it is one of their mid-tempo songs, once again f(x) knows how to pull you in with a catchy chorus and beat, and a dance that makes it easy for fans to follow.

“Chocolate Love”

Early into their debut, f(x) and labelmate Girls’ Generation collaborated with LG to promote their latest phone from their Chocolate series. Both girl groups released the same song, “Chocolate Love,” but with different approaches. While Girls’ Generation took on the more innocent, sweet route with their version, f(x) took on the edgy, cool concept, making it into their electro-pop style. This particular promotion came shortly after their debut, making an even bigger impression that f(x) was a group to look out for in the future! Also, can you spot the Girls’ Generation cameo within the music video?

“Red Light”

Considerably their darkest and edgiest release to date, “Red Light” is definitely a fan favorite from the song to the fashion. While f(x) has been known for their bright, colorful releases, this dark change up showed the maturation of this girl group. “Red Light” proved to many fans in South Korea and internationally that these girls can have a dark, sexy, and mysterious side to them and that they too can pull off this concept with confidence. This was also former member Sulli’s last release with the group before leaving not too long after promotions ended.

While there are so many great releases from f(x) (including a new solo release from Amber!) and although we’d like to mention more, that is it for this week’s Throwback Thursday. It surely has been a blast from the past looking at some of the best from the girl group! Stay tuned next week as we throw it back to more classic hits from K-Pop!
