Throwback Thursday: SISTAR Summer Playlist

Known to many K-Pop fans as the “Queens of Summer Comebacks,” this week we will be taking a look at SISTAR’s best summer releases! From their catchy and addictive lyrics down to the easy-to-follow choreography, you can’t help but engage with this iconic girl group. Although the girl group is no longer together, their summer smash hits will go down as some of the best summer songs in K-Pop history!

“Shake It”

“Shake It” kickstarts us off! This particular song is fun, catchy, and filled with bright colors. “Shake It” is a definite fan-favorite when it comes to the summer releases as the song is upbeat and addictive—you can’t help but to sing or dance along! After one listen, not only will you be singing the chorus, but you will also be shaking your hips just like the SISTAR members. You also can’t help but laugh at the crazy antics of the music video as well as the wonderful cameo from MONSTA X members, Shownu and Wonho!

“I Swear”

Next on the list is the summer getaway song, “I Swear,” which features the ladies heading out on another getaway trip together. It’s all about escaping the dull and boring work day to have some fun. As the SISTAR members cruise around the tropical paradise and head to the pool and beach to cool off, you can’t help but want to call up your closest friends and plan a day of fun as well. The music video shows that what matters at the end of the day are the wonderful memories created with your friends!

“So Cool”

Going back to 2011, we take it back to SISTAR’s glamorous and glitzy music video for “So Cool.” While this particular song and music video isn’t technically a summer-themed song, “So Cool” is the perfect song to get ready to as you head out for a fun night. It’s all about having confidence and feeling good inside and out. “So Cool” is that song that not only is funky but also addictive. It’s perfect to put on blast to all the debbie-downers and fun-suckers; you’re going to have a good time and not care about what others think! Just like their other songs, SISTAR once again delivers a catchy song with an iconic dance to go along with it.

“Touch My Body”

This is the not the first time that “Touch My Body” has appeared on Throwback Thursday, but we just had to include it once again. If “Shake It” or “Loving U” isn’t your staple summer SISTAR song, then it must be “Touch My Body.” This song is the epitome of summer as it features bright colors, floral and tropical patterns, and pools that scream summer. But the gem of this particular song would have to be its catchy chorus that is complemented by the saxophone instrumentals of the song. The SISTAR members look stunning in their various summer-ready outfits and look like they are genuinely having a blast throughout the music video. Not to mention, this song is so popular within K-Pop, groups like GOT7, BTS, TWICE, and Red Velvet have covered the song in their own fun way (and that’s only a few groups mentioned).

“Loving U”

Last but certainly not least is the song that kicked off their summer-styled releases. “Loving U” was SISTAR’s first music video that tackled the summer concept. The ladies flew out to Hawaii to film this particular music video, which shows the girls having a blast throughout the Aloha State. Whether it’s playing around at the beach to goofing off while going through the park, you can’t help but want to have fun just like them. “Loving U” will put a smile on your face; you cannot resist the temptation to squeal at the adorableness of this music video that showcases SISTAR’s bond and friendship. Also, who can’t help but want to dance along to this song?
