N.Flying Asks “How R U Today?”
FNC Entertainment’s youngest boy band is back with their fourth mini-album How Are You? A short four months since their last comeback with the energetic and funky “Hot Potato,” N.Flying sticks with the fun sound, delving deeper into their artistry. With five new tracks to add to their growing repertoire, the group is also rapidly approaching their fifth anniversary. “How R U Today”
Straying from the traditional rock track, N.Flying returns with “How R U Today,” a primarily EDM house pop track that perfectly fits the summer vibe. With soft vocals singing “How are you” alongside a piano, the drums quickly build up into the chorus. In the lyrics, the boys yearn for their lovers, speaking of how things aren’t the same and wondering how they’re doing. Although the song feels upbeat, the mellow chords in the chorus indicate that it’s a sad song. While not immediately addicting, “How R U Today” quickly grows on you, making it a song you’ll play all summer. In the music video, the boys can be seen among the deep green forests bordering the ocean. The scenery fits the house pop vibes and totally sets the mood for summer.

How Are You?
The second track on the album, “Up All Night,” reintroduces the rock aspect back into their mini-album. With an interesting electric guitar melody at the beginning, the song quickly builds up to a catchy beat. Similar to the title track, the song speaks of a lover who has left the members, keeping them “up all night” because they’re pining for their lover. This song has some old school CNBLUE vibes, and the bridge of the song almost sounds as if it follows a familiar rock template, but it still sends shivers down your back. “팔불출 (Love Fool)” is a complete 180 compared to the first two tracks. Speaking of a warm and fuzzy crush, the song is upbeat and catchy, definitely a track to add to your summer road trip playlist. Seunghyuk’s rap gets to shine in this song as it’s usually outdone by vocals in the more melancholy tracks. Lighter in tone, “Anyway” takes us back to 2008 with the sound of the guitar riffs in the back track. This track parallels “Love Fool” with its eclectic breakdown that enters a soft and sweet bridge. It’s another song that’s perfect to listen to on a summer drive. Right of the bat, “너 없는 난 (I Am Without You)” presents itself as the original hard-hitting rock ballad that makes us fall in love with N.Flying. As the last track on the mini-album, the tone it creates sends us back to their beginnings, showing us that although N.Flying has experimented with their sound throughout the years, we’re still able to appreciate the raw artistry that truly shines through this group.
With label-mate CNBLUE on hold due to their leader and main vocalist being whisked away by the mandatory military service and FTISLAND focusing their efforts in the Japanese market, it seems that it’s finally N.Flying’s chance to latch onto the spotlight.
