MAMAMOO’s Moonbyul Releases Summer Solo Single, Selfish!
MAMAMOO has been on a roll this year! Moonbyul is the next member from the girl group to release a solo album, greeting summer with her single album titled Selfish, which consists of a total of three tracks.
Nothing Wrong With Being Selfish
Upon announcement of Moonbyul’s solo release, fans were treated to a surprise as it was announced Red Velvet’s Seulgi was to feature on the track and make an appearance in the music video. “Selfish” is a fun summer track that shows both Moonbyul and Seulgi being carefree and having their own fun despite others judging them. True to the title of the song, Moonbyul and Seulgi just want to be selfish and enjoy their own time. There is nothing wrong with wanting to be a little selfish and having a day to yourself! “Selfish” has a laid-back, chill vibe that is perfect to play while chilling by the pool or while lounging around the house. Moonbyul and Seulgi’s vocals perfectly complement each other; one listen in and you’ll find yourself either singing the song (and having it on repeat) or simply being drawn to their smooth vocals. If you need a fun, easy-going summer track, “Selfish” is the perfect edition to your music playlist.
If “Selfish” is the daytime, upbeat track, “In My Room” is the complementary nighttime, lo-fi/R&B track for fans. In addition to the release of “Selfish,” Moonbyul also treated fans to a music video for “In My Room” which features the artist walking around the city at night, possibly thinking of the person she has affection for. “In My Room” expresses the feeling of having the person you really like on your mind and longing for them.
The last track on Moonbyul’s solo album is the acoustic version of “Love & Hate,” which perfectly closes out this chill, summer single album. As it is an acoustic track, it’s best to listen to while winding down from a long, fun day. You can never resist a cool acoustic track.
Moonbyul’s album is a definite must-listen, especially for this summer as it has the right amount of fun and chill sounds that are perfect for this season. There is also hope to see more solo work from the MAMAMOO member in the future!
