Weekly Charts: June 19- June 26

While it’s obvious that many listeners are jamming to chart toppers like BLACKPINK, BTS, and Bolbbalgan4, this summer, there are still releases from talented artists to look forward to. From new releases to sleeper hits to hidden gems, don’t let chart rankings and music streaming sites discourage you from discovering new songs to add to your summer playlist!

NU SUMMER SOUND

NU'EST W released their new track “Dejavu” on June 25 with a Latin-inspired pop sound added on their dance track as part of their second EP, Who, You. The four members of NU'EST display their power as a sub-unit with vocal power, heartfelt lyrics, and dream-like sounds accompanied with ethereal visuals that are representative of the boy band’s image.

Although only a fresh track, the song debuted on Instiz Weekly iChart at number 14 and still has room for potential on the charts as the next summer banger.

OUT WITH THE OLD, IN WITH “SOMETHING NEW”

Taeyeon returned with her third EP and title track, Something New on June 18 which introduces a different side of the solo singer. In contrast to her usual ballads that suit her vocal color, the neo soul sound showcases the versatility of the singer’s voice in various genres. The EP is prominent on the Bugs! Weekly Chart at the number five spot along with the B-sides following in the Top 30. Each song is perfect for groove sessions in these hot summer nights.

PRISMATIC RHYTHM

As part of their grand comeback celebrating their 10th anniversary debut, SHINee released three EPs back-to-back as part of their album series, The Story of Light. The first track released from EP. 1, “Good Evening” sounds reminiscent to their last summer hit “View” with its deep house vibes and loose and groovy, yet intricate, choreography. Released on May 28, the first single remains at number 20 on Instiz Weekly iChart. Their second release, “I Want You” presents a tropical sound with synths and fresh vocals ready for the summer as it remains at the 20th spot on Gaon’s Weekly Chart. Wrapping up this week with their third EP, these shining stars have made their marks this summer.
