Back to School Guide

Well, the last week of summer break has arrived, so sadly school is finally back in session! What does school mean? STRESS, STRESS, STRESS! When you are stressed during the year, your skin clearly shows it to everyone. Below, I will recommend some essentials that will help you survive this school year.

Face

What is the main concern for students during the stressful academic year? PIMPLES! They just keep showing up once you try to get rid of one, it is like a never-ending cycle. Well, during the hot weather, we have to learn how to control the oil and sebum forming on our skin. One simple step you can do during a study break is using blotting sheets to remove the excess oil on your face. If you do not have time to do a whole skincare routine, then you just have to remember to wash your face and moisturize. So, you can wash your face in the shower and put cream on your face after you come out of the shower. Simple, right?

Now for the winter, moisturization is key because the weather does get colder and harsher on the skin. Just keep a mini moisturizer in your school bag and apply some cream onto your face during those study breaks, an action which only takes a couple seconds and saves you from having dry, damaged skin. For those who wear makeup, DO NOT forget to remove your makeup before sleeping because it will clog your pores to cause more blemishes on your skin. A simple product to remove makeup is using a cleansing balm such as Heimish’s All Clean Balm and Banila Co’s Clean It Zero Cleansing Balm. These products just quickly melt all your makeup off your face and even act as a cleanser to get deep into your pores.

The best solution to getting rid of pimples is, of course, pimple patches because they suck up all the dirt in your pimple, so it prevents the growth of the pimples and even reduce acne scars. I recommend COSRx’s Acne Pimple Master Patches because every single time I have used them, my pimples have been noticeably smaller and disappear quicker.

Body

Not only do we have to care for our face, but we also have to ensure that our body is moisturized and healthy. So, using a gentle, cleansing body soap would be a good start! There are many foam body washes or even gentle body soaps such as SkinFood’s Intensive Shea Butter Cream Wash. Once you come out of the shower, another important step is to moisturize your body or else the skin will crack, especially during the winter times.

For those who shave, you can get ingrown hairs if you do not care for your skin from time to time. A simple step to prevent ingrown hairs is to exfoliate your body in the shower with an exfoliating glove. Exfoliating your body will clean deep into your pores to ensure that all the dirt and bacteria is cleaned out of your body because you can get pimples and blemishes on your body as well.

Hair

Having silky, shiny hair is always a dream come true for everyone, so an easy step to achieve this is preventing your hair from becoming frizzy by applying hair treatments. There are simple hair treatments that just take a couple minutes through spraying the product or applying a few pumps of the product onto your hair. Some products I recommend are Etude House’s Silk Scarf Hair Treatment and Innisfree’s Camellia Essential Hair Oil Serum.

For those who do not wash their hair everyday, dry shampoo has always been raved about in the beauty industry for its amazing results. Through using dry shampoo, you can keep your hair looking fresh and clean throughout the day with just a few sprays. Some dry shampoos on the market leave an unappealing white powder on the top of your head, but The Face Shop’s Jewel Therapy Cherry Blossom dry shampoo is the perfect product to keep your hair looking fresh and amazing throughout the day.

Well, going back to school is stressful which means that we do need to take more time and effort to take care of our skin and bodies. Although many students don’t have time to prep their skin and do many treatments, just doing simple skincare can be sufficient as well. Do not forget to just do basic skincare to allow your skin to be pampered every now and then!
