Study Playlist Recommendations for the New Semester

Whether you have started school already or you’re still waiting for it to start (unless you work), fall is upon us and for many that means study season and exams are around the corner. Studying and exam season might become a stressful time, so some relaxing music can be a way to destress and just help with writing that essay or paper that needs to be handed in on time. The past week we have had a couple of good releases that you can add to your study playlist for this upcoming season.

OVIT - 맞아 (right)

Soft tunes to piano and calming vocals are the key points in this song. With a slow and steady beat, this release is the perfect addition to your study playlist to listen to as background music while you study. “맞아 (right)” was first released as a demo on SoundCloud in March this year, but it just recently got a music video and a proper recording of the song. The song was both composed and written by the artist himself. OVIT performs well and his soothing voice is perfect for the song; you can really tell it was written by him.

Kim Areum - 선 (Cross The Line)

Retro vibes and beautiful vocals are the words to best describe this release. Right before the music actually starts, a vinyl record is used as a sound effect, setting the retro theme in the song. Keyboard tunes inspired by ‘80s pop to a slow but groovy melody is truly the essence of “선 (Cross The Line).” The lyrics video to the song has many different visual elements in it, constantly changing the mood with the mix of different colors, but it’s never too much going on on screen. “선 (Cross The Line)” was released August 28.

The Ade - Pretty rubbish

A good guitar and acoustic elements for a study playlist is something that never fails to make the cut. Add some beautiful and calming vocals to it and it’s a win—something that The Ade delivers to the table. “Pretty rubbish” is a soft ballad with a music video that has stunning visuals, with calming and aesthetically pleasing color schemes. The single was released August 22 and is the second single release by the artist. As well as adding this to your study playlist, be on the lookout for more releases by The Ade, as she is very talented.

BUMZU - 그리워 안 해 (i don’t miss you)

The final song on this list is “그리워 안 해 (i don’t miss you)” by the soloist BUMZU. The song and music video was released August 27 and it is an acoustic ballad with the main focus on guitar for half the song; later, piano and drums come into the mix to keep a nicely paced melody. Although it’s a ballad, it doesn’t have a sad melody, but a rather blissful feel to it. It’s definitely worth checking out when looking for something for your study playlist, as we need something lighter than a heavy ballad when studying.
