Makeup for Summer to Fall Transitions

Our skin is the most sensitive and vulnerable when seasons are changing. Because of this, we have to be extremely careful of the products we are putting on our faces. I recommend trying to apply less product as much as possible because then your skin is able to focus more on skincare and moisturization compared to makeup.

FACE

For face makeup, I would recommend just applying concealer and a light foundation, or if possible, not even applying foundation. I have noticed that applying concealer, foundation, and powder is better for summer as your makeup is able to withstand the hot, humid weather. During the winter, I prefer just applying concealer because then the skincare you have applied before makeup is able to form a stronger moisture barrier. Although, if you do not like the dewy, glowy look and prefer a matte look, you can apply a light amount of powder onto the face especially on the T-zone. In order to achieve this, some concealers I would recommend are The Saem’s Cover Perfection Tip Concealer and Benefit Cosmetics’ Boi-ing Hydrating Concealer. Although Benefit is not a Korean brand, this product is my lifesaver during the winter because it consists of vitamin E and apple seed extract in the concealer stick. The concealer has two rings: the inner circle is the actual product and around the concealer, there is a moisture ring to provide a natural-looking finish.

EYES

As usual, the eye makeup should try to look as natural as possible to show off your natural beauty. For eyebrows, filling in the open areas as light as possible with a straight yet slightly arched line at the end is always flattering. For eyeshadow, a perfect neutral shade of brown is great for transitioning from summer to fall. Usually, focusing on matte eyeshadows is better for this time of year because glitter could be too flashy for the more muted weather. If you would like to add more definition, you can use a darker neutral shade on the outer corners of your eyes and lightly shade it in while bringing it to the center of your eyelids. For eyeshadows, I recommend Aritaum’s Mono Eyes in M18 and Innisfree’s Mineral Single Shadow in No. 4 (Latte).

LIPS

For lips, I would recommend using an MLBB (My Lips But Better) shade because it fits the weather slowly getting colder and the season change. If you choose a vibrant pink or orange, it could overwhelm your makeup look and not fit the season as much. To get this result, my go-to lip products are 3CE’s Mood Recipe Matte Lip Color in No.221 (Mellow Flower) and The Face Shop’s Moisture Touch Lipstick in BE03 (Beige Rococo).

During this sensitive time for our skin, I would recommend focusing more on skincare and not so much on makeup because no matter how much makeup you put on your face, natural skin would always be the best.
