GOT7 Treats Fans with Present: YOU

GOT7 is back with another album this year for fans to groove and dance along to. This particular album is such a special treat as this is the first time that GOT7 has included solo tracks by each member. Present: YOU consists a total of 15 tracks along with the instrumental of their title, “Lullaby.”

Stellar Solos

Instead of highlighting each song in chronological order, we are going to take a look at each of the member’s solo tracks off the album. For quite some time, if you have attended GOT7’s past tours, fans had a glimpse at the special unit stages with songs that have only been exclusive to the concerts and fan events. When they released the official tracklist for this album, fans got a delightful present. We finally get to have a moment where each member gets their own time to shine in an album. Each member brings their own sense of style in each song and accompanying video. Prior to the release of the album and official music video for “Lullaby,” we were treated short music videos for each solo track as well.

In order of release, Jackson is first up with his hard-hitting and gritty song, “Made It,” that goes all the way in with his fierce rap. Then BamBam flaunts his luxurious and sleek style with “Party,” which you can see being played either at the club or on the runway during fashion week. Youngjae swoons with his emotional ballad, “Nobody Knows,” where the music video follows Youngjae on a long journey through a tunnel, while Jinyoung looks back at his youth with “My Youth.” Yugyeom takes fans on an R&B dance trip with his groovy song “Fine,” while GOT7’s leader, JB, where he brings a sweet and soothing ballad for “Sunrise.” Closing out the solos is none other Mark surprises with his rap and vocals in “OMW.” It’s not often that fans get to hear Mark sing, and to do it on his own solo track is definitely a pleasant surprise. If you were paying close attention to all the music videos, each member has a specific object or setting from their solo music videos that is showcased in the “Lullaby” music video. Can you spot which things from the solo music videos made it into “Lullaby”?

Singing A “Lullaby”

Going off the name alone for their title track, you would think that GOT7 is going to release a slow and sweet ballad, but the idol boy group has done it again with bringing an energetic and fun dance track that will put a huge grin on your face. “Lullaby” is a sweet song that focuses on being in love and thinking about that extra special person. The music video, as previously mentioned, contains aspects of each member’s solo music video and  also showcases the sleek and smooth choreography that GOT7 effortlessly pulls off. What makes this particular title track extra special is that “Lullaby” was also recorded in English, Chinese, and Spanish along with the Korean version. GOT7 really pulled out all the stops to address as much of their fanbase as as possible, and it’s also a first that several languages are featured for the title track! As K-Pop fans, we are used to seeing a Japanese version come out for groups, but this is such a special treat that is greatly appreciated from fans all around the world.

The Album

The remaining tracks off the album are also upbeat and fun tracks that will have fans up and dancing along. “Enough” is an EDM-R&B track that has such a smooth groove to it, you can practically feel the honey-like sound ooze out of the song. “Save You” is a song that takes you back to the ‘90s thanks to its retro/hip-hop sound. If you are a big fan of Bruno Mars’ “Finesse,” then this song will surely get you into that dancing mood. The next track, “No One Else,” is a song that is perfect for those occasions where you want to sit back and relax, or at a get-together with some friends and have an easy-going time. The last track off the album is “I Am Me,” which is another refreshing song as it is a bit more mid-tempo and slower compared to the rest of the album. If you are big fan of their song, “You Are,” then you are sure to like “I Am Me.”

GOT7 once again delivers a solid album that is well worth the recommendation. If you haven’t gotten the chance to listen to the album, get on it and don’t miss out! Congratulations GOT7 on another great comeback!
