Need a quick catch up just before the group’s comeback dominates the airwaves? Then let’s go!
The Debut - “Boy”
Right from the get-go, The Boyz’s members are out to steal the heart of every listener around the world with the bold, forthright “Boy.” The debut single is a mixture of R&B and future bass genres, and is reminiscent of songs like SHINee’s “View,” so fans of that sound will definitely have their interests piqued with “Boy.” The song’s lyrics are an exploration into the mind of a trainee, highlighting the hardships they’ve overcome to achieve their dreams. “I've waited only for you,” the members declare, “I’m the only one your boy.” The song’s music video is very aesthetically pleasing with individual shots of members juxtaposed with thrilling, seamless choreography. “Boy” is a knockout of a debut single—one that rightfully had the world begging to know more about their cool, effortless charms.
The Comeback - “Giddy Up”
The Boyz returned on April 3 with their second mini-album, The Start, and its irresistible, upbeat track “Giddy Up!” Much like its name, this track really kickstarted The Boyz’s popularity because of its light, funky pop sound and youthful, addictive lyrics. “Giddy Up” is the embodiment of youthful energy, with bubbly lyrics that sweetly encourage the listener to join them on their exciting journey. “We’re young and free, don't be afraid,” the members sing, “let's run toward this broad world / hold my hand and dream more / everything is good when we're together." “Giddy Up” is definitely a song written to attract new fans into the magical, effervescent world of The Boyz, and it works. It’s impossible to not enjoy this track. The members’ charms are on full display in the song’s music video too, which is a fun, retro throwback as the members dance inside a pinball machine and show off their smooth, Wild West-inspired choreography.
The Latest - “KeePer”
On July 12, The Boyz’s cute side was unleashed with the release of their third EP and its title track “KeePer!” Produced by Block B’s Park Kyung, “KeePer” is a sweet, summer song that’s bursting with cutesy charm. The song’s lyrics focus on the heart-thumping middleground between liking and dating someone, but being too shy to take the next step. The boys heartwarmingly confess their struggles in the bridge, saying: “If you have the same feelings as me / Then is this love? / I'm gonna get your loving / You're so pretty how can I stay still?” The music video for “KeePer” definitely follows the song’s cute concept with its bright color scheme, the members’ cheesy actions, and the adorable choreography. Eagle-eyed fans will notice that one shot focuses on a calendar dating back to December 6—the day The Boyz’s first single was released!
