Throwback Thursday: Get Your Groove On

When people think of K-Pop, they tend to think of some of the catchiest songs on the planet. Whether it’s mesmerizing beats or jams that sound straight out of a disco, there are just some K-Pop songs you can’t help but dance to. Check out some of The Kraze’s favorite grooviest tracks below!

“Metronome” - Weki Meki

Weki Meki’s funky “Metronome” comes off their 2018 mini-album Lucky. Though just a B-side compared to the album’s title track “La La La,” the song shows the sultrier, sassier side of the girl group with a grittier beat than some of their other tracks. The song is literally about walking to the beat of their own drum, but with just a bit of electric flair, and we think that bit of electricity fits Weki Meki perfectly too.

“Jelly” - HOTSHOT

HOTSHOT’s 2017 song “Jelly” is everything a dance track should be: it’s sexy, it’s contagious, and most importantly, it’s got crazy rhythm. Off of their 2017 album of the same name, the lyrics sing of a love just as addictive as the music itself. The choreography in the video is no joke either—it’s no surprise the boys were prepared to bring their A-game with a track like this.

“21” - DEAN

When it comes to R&B king DEAN, every song is worthy of being a title track. And his 2016 song “21” off of his debut EP 130 mood: TRBL is just that: a hidden gem among side tracks. The song has a strong jivey feel to it, with a slight edge that’s reminiscent of the early ‘80s thanks to the bass. The chorus for the song is straight-up impossible not to groove to, but the rest of the song is just as great of a listen, though we’re not surprised that’s the case when it’s a DEAN creation.

“Hey Mama!” - EXO-CBX

2016 brought us not only the debut of EXO’s first official sub-unit EXO-CBX, but also their infectious first single “Hey Mama!” With a quirky retro concept to match, the song sounds like modern disco, fit with one of the catchiest guitar riffs in recent K-Pop. As like the other tracks on this list, the chorus is bound to get stuck in your head and stay there...or at least until Chen’s high note in the bridge stuns you.
