ONEUS Triumphs Love in “LIT”
One of the most vibrant rookie groups of 2019, ONEUS is back with their latest single, “LIT” to kick-start the month of Halloween. FLY WITH US, the six-track mini album marks the third release from the budding sextet. With regal, traditional Korean sets, wardrobe and props, the act of six become real prince charmings under the shimmering moonlight to devour our hearts in their latest video.
The Single
In their latest release, the group follows the concept of comparing a loved one with the bright full moon. The dance track begins with the bang of a gong to represent the traditional musical sounds of Korea. With Hwanwoong setting the mood, the single begins with calmer verses singing about an ancient romantic story set under moonlight. The different arrangements of the verses keep excitement levels up as the chorus drops, with huge drums and trumpets singing of glory. The refreshing chorus put us into festive spirits. The hook of the track comes from the catchy line “let’s go” and continues with another verse, followed by Ravn’s potent rap lines. The lines further builds up hype, culminating with a heavy dance break, making us want to jam along with the rising tempo. The track becomes more subtle again thanks to the slender vocals of Keonhee and Seoho, which then again builds towards an explosive finish.
The Music Video
Heading towards a different concept in their new single, the members Ravn, Seoho, Leedo, Keonhee, Hwanwoong, and Xion appear colorful and joyous amidst the celebration. The idea of bringing in Korea’s traditional instruments is not new, as a few groups–most notably BTS popularized the concept in their famous single, “IDOL.” Despite being a previously done concept, the group appears vibrant wearing silk robes and while dancing among the large drums and Korean dragons. The dramatized music video pulls us into the olden days and makes us reminiscence about our favourite historic, royal family K-Dramas. With the multicolored and luxurious ambience of the video, the members do not just dazzle in their robes, but stand out fearless and bold in their attire, carrying huge hand-fans with nobility. As far as the choreography, the six-piece once again scores highly with energizing and powerful dance steps. To compare the group’s journey since debut, the sextet have grown up as much more confident actors and performers in their latest single.
