”You Calling My Name”

Over the years since their debut, GOT7 has grown from young boys to men with their music. “You Calling My Name” is a perfect example of how mature they’ve become in sound and style. No longer are they the young boys that are chasing after girls in school, but are grown men going through the motions of deep relationships and heartbreak. “You Calling My Name” is a song that is all about longing to be called by the person they’ve let go of by mistake. The lyrics of the song talks about how letting go of of this special person was a grave mistake and that without them, they are nothing. All that remains is emptiness from their absence and they long for them to call their name once more.

“You Calling My Name” is a much darker toned song, which GOT7 is no stranger to releasing. However, the song has a funky, electro-pop groove to it that makes people want to get up and dance around. Right when the chorus hits, it takes on this whisper-like quality before dropping the funky beat. One thing is for sure is that GOT7 will never fail to deliver a catchy and addictive song. The music video itself is much darker in color in set design as well as the member’s fashion. Leather and silk seems to be the trend of the fall season this year, as fans can gush over the members donning leather suits of different dark shades. But aside from the artsy/editorial member scenes, what makes this truly a GOT7 music video, is the attention and focus is on the choreography for “You Calling My Name.” With such sharp and intricate choreography, viewers will be left in awe, going back for a second time just to catch each movement.

The Album

Despite the album only having a total of six songs, GOT7 offers up an album that will consistently have fans moving along. All the songs off the album remain upbeat and sultry. Just when you would think that there would be a break in the album to give listeners a breather, GOT7 says otherwise; this album is meant for listeners to have a good time and dance. Though it may not seem like it at first, Call My Name is such a feel-good party album that is worth the listen from beginning to end, although the album is missing that small element of a good R&B slow jam that many know GOT7 are more than capable of effortlessly executing. An addition of this type of track would have given the album a little more balance to break up the pacing of the tracklist. However, this little hiccup does not take away from the fact that GOT7 has another solid album to their list. Call My Name is sure to have fans buzzing about this album for the foreseeable future and it’s only a matter of time for when fans get to see these songs performed on a world tour stage. This album is one that will be or repeat for quite some time and we highly recommend giving it a listen.
