Throwback Thursday: Dance Party

Last week’s Throwback Thursday brought us acoustic songs for the solemn rainy days of spring, but as anyone knows, with warmer weather also comes sunshine! So let those gray skies clear and open your windows wide; this week’s Throwbacks brings you four unbeatable dance tracks to remind everyone that summer is just around the corner!

“ah-ah” - TEEN TOP

In 2015, TEEN TOP hit the scene with “ah-ah,” a funky dance track with a groove that’s impossible to resist. The music video has a retro touch to it, straddling both a vintage and a futuristic concept with plenty of bright colors to spare. “ah-ah” is the perfect summer song—not to mention it is what most agree to be one of the hardest choreographies in K-Pop.

“Attention” - Trouble Maker

Most people think of “Trouble Maker” when they think of the HyunA-Hyunseung duo by the same name, but in 2013, the act promoted the B-side “Attention” alongside the title from their second EP Chemistry. In addition to Trouble Maker’s token allure, “Attention” has one of the catchiest saxophone lines in K-Pop that will have you dancing from the first beat.

“HERO” - MONSTA X

MONSTA X’s “HERO” was originally released as a B-side on their 2015 EP Rush, but was later re-released as the title of the digital repackage of the album. Much like Trouble Maker’s “Attention,” “HERO” features a melody that will stick with listeners long after the song is over. Despite its catchy melody line, the groove to this song is down and dirty, making for the perfect dance jam.

“All Mine” - f(x)

Released as an SM Station track in 2016, f(x)’s “All Mine” is an upbeat summer song that, between its bright synths and poppy beats, sounds like it was pulled straight out of a rave. The lyrics to this love song are on the simpler side, lending itself instead to the EDM rhythms and melodies. “All Mine” is a track that all but begs the listener to get up out of their seat and dance—a perfect fit for the ladies of f(x).
