Favorite Music Video(s)

Tiffany Young - “Magnetic Moon”

I’m a sucker for moon motifs and glitter, and Ms. Tiffany delivered! If Sharpay Evans became a pop star, she would put out music videos like “Magnetic Moon.” Tiffany is literally glowing in every shot, giving the audience magnetic stares herself. While the song by itself was not a favorite this month, there’s no looking away when the music video is on. I too would love to swing in front of a gigantic moon, and watching Tiffany do it for me is fulfillment enough.

EVERGLOW - “Adios”

EVERGLOW is rightfully a rookie favorite for 2019 and “Adios” is a visual masterpiece. From the museum scenery to the group dancing in a desert landscape, everything about this music videos screams iconic; it just couldn’t be left out as a favorite. The primarily black and white outfits contrasting with rather empty backgrounds draw the viewers' attention entirely to the girls, making the choreography even more eye-catching. The choreography itself is a major focal point to the music video, having very little shots in which the members are not dancing. The sharp movements accompanied by the EDM drops and combat boots are a perfect match, but EVERGLOW embodies every second of it being the true stars of the music video.

Favorite Song

FANXY CHILD - “Y”

This is a completely biased monthly favorite; it was rather impossible for FANXY CHILD to not be featured. In fact, it would be rather easy for me to justify them as a favorite choice for every category. Favorite music video? Iconic shots highlighting every member, using various stylistic styles to match each individual while bringing it back to their collective force as a group of brilliant musicians who are primarily friends. Favorite beauty product? “Y” cleared my skin and pores, hydrated my hair, inspired me to go back to the gym, and overall made me a better person. Yes, it was that revolutionary. Favorite song? Now, this is where they really get me. I am not exaggerating when I say I have only listened to four songs all month: State Champ’s “Slow Burn,” Taylor Swift’s “Paper Ring,” Grayscale’s “Baby Blue, and FANXY CHILD’s “Y.” While a cypher is structured to feature all of its artists, a song with many voices could confuse listeners as to how it would equality allow for all of them to shine, but “Y” does it perfectly. The song carries elements from all the members and remains cohesive and entertaining. 10/10 would highly recommend.

Favorite Live Performance

X1 - “MOVE” on Show-Con

X1 had an incredible debut, as to be expected from a Produce 101 group. While watching clips from the Show-Con debut showcase, “MOVE” really stood out to me. I loved the outfits, the song (once again, thank the heavens for ZICO), the choreography, and had a blast watching the live performance. I very quickly caught myself dancing along, especially to the chorus. If you’re trying to get your friend into X1, “Flash” and “MOVE” are the perfect combo.
