B-Sides: EVERGLOW’s First Anniversary Special
With back-to-back addictive singles, EVERGLOW celebrates their first debut anniversary on March 18. With just three mini-albums and ten tracks, the girls have already become known for being one of the top girl groups of the fourth generation of K-Pop. They’re known for their powerful music videos, but not much is spoken about their mellow side tracks. This week, The Kraze decided to give you a glimpse on a few of EVERGLOW’s B-sides for you to enjoy.
“Hush”
The first song on the list is from the group’s second mini-album, HUSH. Standing in contrast to the banging singles, EVERGLOW has a sweeter side with their B-sides, and a prime example of this is “Hush.” With a breezy tune, Aisha begins the track with her melodic low vocals. The song sings about the magical and uncertain feeling of love. The entire song sounds mystical, as the members grace the track with their serene verses. With references such as Pandora and the shades of aurora, the lyrics and melody take the listeners to a stellar state of being.
“Moon”
“Moon,” from the group’s debut album ARRIVAL OF EVERGLOW, is another song about love, yet in a different tone: the pop track sings about the lack of trust and transparency found in a relationship. The lyrics “Show yourself, more clearly. Show yourself, somewhere always half hidden,” explain the desperate mood interwoven in the song. The lines also personify the celestial moon, asking for a favor to make the night last forever. The song may not be one of the catchiest numbers of the sextet, but despite that, the members show off their vocal skills through this track.
“You Don’t Know Me”
“You Don’t Know Me,” another B-Side from the HUSH album, emits a playful and bright side of the group. The song sings about the excitement and cheerful vibes of being in a relationship. With peppy lines and a glimpse of rap verses, the song keeps ringing in the listener’s head. The lyrics “with your fingertips you shake up my heart” and “your sweetness made my lips tremble,” sound fun and adorable. Within the first listen, every listener is bound to sing, “You don’t know me, you don’t know me,” as the song plays along.
“Salute”
“Salute,” from the group’s latest album REMINISCENCE, is more of an anthem for every lady out there. The track speaks about the fighting will found in all women and empowers them to keep going. The lyrics also bring in the element of discrimination as it sings, “Break you who were tangled in the world. Come out don’t walk on eggshells.” Adding to the thoughtful lyrics, the song also makes sure to be catchy and it’s sure to stay on your repeat playlist for a long time.
