Meet the Group: KARD
After their official debut in 2017, the co-ed group KARD has continued to release catchy hits with electronic beats that are very chic and powerful, bringing a unique twist onto the K-Pop scene.
Who is KARD?
KARD formed under DSP Media and consists of four members, BM, J.Seph, Somin, and Jiwoo. Before their official debut, they released the single “Oh NaNa” on December 13, 2016, followed by “Don’t Recall” and “Rumor,” which charted at No. 1 in 13 countries on iTunes’ K-Pop charts as well as maintaining a high rank on the main iTunes charts in the U.S., Southeast Asia, and Europe.
KARD officially debuted on July 19, 2017 with their first mini album Hola Hola. This album contains six songs, including the three pre-debut tracks as well as their summer vibe title track, “Hola Hola.” This mini album peaked at No. 3 on Billboard’s World Albums Chart. Prior to their debut, they had also completed a world tour and then went on to complete another world tour shortly after their official debut. This is almost unheard of for a K-Pop group to tour with a short turnaround as well as a focus on countries outside of Korea. However, the result of these world tours allowed KARD to garner a global fanbase.
On November 21, 2017, KARD released a second mini album, You & Me, with the title track “You in Me.” They continued to tour and even performed at the South By Southwest music festival. They released their third mini album Ride On the Wind on July 25, 2018.
KARD released their first digital single “Bomb Bomb” in early 2019 and had their first solo concert in Korea in August 2019. In September, they had another comeback with the song “Dumb Litty,” which was on Billboard’s Top 50 Digital Sales. Their fourth mini album, Red Moon, was released early February 2020. The title track, “Red Moon,” shows off their consistency of strong EDM beats with stunning co-ed choreography that allows them to stand out in the K-Pop industry.
