The Hallyu Podcast Community Gathers for KPSN Podcast Fest

On July 18, 2020, event organizers Macgproductions LLC and their subsidiary KPOP Social Night brought together a range of Hallyu-centered podcasts for KPSN Podcast Fest, the first of its kind for the K-Pop/Hallyu podcast community!

In the age where COVID-19 limits the opportunity for K-Pop fans to meet up in person and attend events like KCON, conventions, and concerts, KPSN Podcast Fest brought the community a bit closer to fill in the missing gaps by sharing their insights on K-Pop and K-Drama. A total of 13 podcasts and radio shows were present for the event, all offering different takes on K-Pop, K-Hip-Hop and R&B, and K-Drama. KPSN Podcast Fest was an all day event, kicking off right at 10:00 a.m. central time and lasting until 9:00 p.m. Taking place on Zoom, KPSN Podcast Fest marks the first event of its kind in the Hallyu community.

Attendees of the event got to experience not only meeting the hosts of the podcasts, but also got the opportunity to sit in a live recording for each podcast’s episode. But that is not all!  Throughout the event, there were opportunities for attendees to join breakout rooms and participate in trivia games with others, and lucky winners got a prize at the end of the session. Topics that were covered ranged from the latest happenings in the Hallyu world, and thoughts on music and fashion, to opening up thoughtful spaces of conversation about cultural appropriation in K-Pop. It should also be noted that the podcasts and radio shows who participated in the event came together as a collective and donated to the National Alliance on Mental Health, as July marks Minority Mental Health Month.

With over 60 attendees for the first-time event, KPSN Podcast Fest was a major success. Those who attended, whether it be as one of the podcast hosts who participated or supporters of their favorite podcasts, all are looking forward to the return of KPSN Podcast Fest!

A special thank you to Multifactedacg Productions LLC and KPOP Social Night for inviting The Kraze Magazine and The Krazecast to take part of KPSN Podcast Fest!
