Brave Girls Returns After 2 Long Years

Fans of Brave Girls, rejoice! It has been a long time coming, and the girls have certainly been missed since then, but they have finally returned to the music scene with a new single! A veteran group that debuted almost ten years ago, Brave Girls has had difficulty in recent years, but despite that has created a loyal fanbase that has certainly been frustrated with the group’s company for not allowing them more promotion. A single might not be much, but it is something.

The Single: “We Ride”

Even casual listeners will find something to enjoy in the new single “We Ride,” a delightfully upbeat retro track that is a perfect fit for the summer. Upon first listen, the aura is quite nice and bright, the entire track driven by a rhythm guitar straight out of the 1960s and coupled with a synth beat introduced in the 80s. The driving beat keeps the mood up all through the song. It’s a refreshing shift from the more recently popular EDM influences. The vocals of the quartet are a great fit for this genre too and are able to shine quite well.

It’s expected that the music video would also have intense retro vibes and that’s certainly delivered. The opening scene has the girls driving in a convertible against a pixelated backdrop that is reminiscent of early video game landscapes from the 80s. The summer anthem is driven home by the scenes of Yuna dressed as a surfer in a tropical backdrop and Eunji sporting a tennis court backdrop, both of which zoom out to show the girls on the set of a shoot rather than in those actual locations. The most enjoyable portion of the video though would be the choreography shots of the girls in sparkly outfits amidst a retro video game backdrop. It’s a very unique concept and extremely refreshing!
