ITZY Proves They’re “Not Shy” With New Release

ITZY is back, and the girls are continuing on their journey of promoting self-love and girl power, delivering yet another collection of high-energy anthems. With lead single “Not Shy,” the girls emphasize that they won’t back down in a fast-paced and energetic performance that was worth the wait. The accompanying music video has a Western theme with eye-catching outfits just as uniquely theirs as the music. In making a statement, this new album as a whole is another reminder of who ITZY hopes to be as a unit.

The Not Shy EP is filled with dynamic, bubbly songs that feel very on brand for the group’s image. With songs “Don’t Give a What,” “Louder,” “iD,” “SURF,” and “Be in Love,” the titles are self-explanatory enough to give a glimpse at the themes that sum up the overall message of the project. With such a strong return to the scene, the girls are demanding attention and positively influencing fans and new audiences alike. Though there isn’t much variation in genre or style of the songs, besides the slightly more mellow and particularly disco influenced “SURF,” and the slower, more guitar-strung “Be in Love,” the music is still very catchy and feels true to the core of ITZY.

With “Wanted” signs, eclectic outfits, wild car chases, and a successful sweets heist, the visuals for “Not Shy” are equally as exciting as the EP. The flawless choreography and dance numbers in the middle of the Wild Wild West bring a fresh and unexpected contrast from their previous music videos. ITZY are the sole focus, as they should be, and each moment solidifies that in a video that feels perfectly fitting for the socially distanced world we currently live in.

Say what you want about the group, but they’ve managed to grow tremendously in a short amount of time, staying true to their uplifting message from the beginning. Once again, they’ve delivered the perfect, mood-boosting soundtrack for whenever you need a little reminder of who you are. So, don’t be shy and give them a listen.
