October is the month of all things spooky, but if you aren’t ready to embrace your inner dark side, we’ve got you covered. Here are eight dramas starting this October that you can watch if the horror and supernatural genre aren’t your thing.

The King’s Affection

Twins are considered a bad sign. When the Crown Prince’s consort delivers them, he hides his daughter to save her from death. Unfortunately, his son dies a few years later, causing him to bring back his daughter to raise as her brother. Lee Hwi (Park Eunbin) isn’t allowed to interact with anyone for fear that her true identity will be revealed. As hard as she tries to stay away from everyone, Lee Hwi develops feelings for her teacher, Jung Jiwoon (SF9’s Rowoon). With the throne at stake, will Lee Hwi be able to resist her feelings or will she confess who she really is to Jiwoon?

Reflection of You

A successful painter and essayist, Jung Heejoo (Go Hyunjung) seemingly has it all. Her husband, Ahn Hyunsung (Choi Wonyoung), is next in line to be the hospital director, and she  has two children that she adores. Everything seems perfect, yet Heejoo isn’t satisfied. One day she meets Goo Haewon (Shin Hyunbin). Haewon is a poor art teacher who still finds excitement in life. Heejoo envies her and decides to throw caution to the wind and live her life the way she desires.

Yoon Jiwoo (Han Sohee) wants revenge after her father is killed in front of her. To get it, she follows the advice of her father’s friend and top drug dealer, Choi Moojin (Park Heesoon). He tells her to become a killer herself and create a cover life so she doesn’t raise suspicion, so Jiwoo decides to become a police officer. She partners with Jeon Pildo (Ahn Bohyun) in the Drug Investigation Unit run by Cha Giho (Kim Sangho). Giho has been chasing Moojin for his entire career and vows to take him down. How will Jiwoo balance her life of crime and revenge with upholding the law?

My Sweet Dear

My Sweet Dear stars Lee Chanhyung as Yoon Dogun, the creative chef at popular restaurant Laura Dining. Lately, the owner and Dogun aren’t seeing eye to eye, and the owner hires another chef, Choi Jungwoo (Jang Euisoo), to work in the kitchen. Jungwoo is also a fantastic chef, but rather than make his own recipes, he copies others. Dogun despises him immediately. Will Jungwoo be able to win Dogun over, or are his days numbered in the kitchen?

Jirisan

Park ranger Seo Yikang (Jun Jihyun) has been working for years, tracking down people who get lost in the Jirisan National Park. Her new partner, Kang Hyunjo (Joo Jihoon), suffered trauma on the mountain that caused him to quit the military and become a ranger. Together they investigate the people who come to the national park to hide. Are they here to commit murder, self-harm, or worse?

Chimera

Detective Cha Jaehwan (Park Haesoo) is joined by criminal profiler Eugene (Soo Hyun) and Lee Joongyeob (Lee Heejun) as they track down the elusive killer from the 1984 Chimera Incident. Unfortunately, the slayings are happening again, and it’s up to the trio to figure out the clues from the last 30 years to prevent the next death.

Chimera isn’t available on any streaming platforms yet, but hopefully it will be soon. 

Inspector Koo

Former police inspector Koo Kyungyi (Lee Youngae) loves the thrill of the hunt. Even though she isn’t in the police department anymore, she still finds ways to solve cold case crimes. Nearby, a female serial killer is committing a new crime—insurance fraud. Kyungyi becomes interested in the case and starts chasing the mysterious killer.

However, that might be easier said than done because four men enter her life, all trying to win her heart. Pi Jungwon (Choi Wonmyung) and Sari have been friends since they were little, but he realizes he has feelings for her and will fight for her as the other men vie for her attention.
