Ready, SET, Go With WOODZ

WOODZ is back with his latest single album, SET, led by the provocative, erotically-charged “FEEL LIKE.” After last November’s generally upbeat WOOPS!, SET takes a drastic turn, dominated by a mature R&B sound.

Title track “FEEL LIKE'' starts off the album with extremely heavy guitars, but truly, it’s the heavy breathing in the opening that sets the tone for the release. WOODZ’s vocals are particularly alluring, utilizing wispy falsettos in the chorus. Although there’s nothing overtly sexual in the lyrics, the track is practically dripping with sensuality. Meanwhile, the video for “FEEL LIKE'' fittingly paints WOODZ as the quintessential bad boy, with the singer riding in on a sleek motorcycle before dancing in a swanky saloon-style bar.

“Touché” is the second song on the album and takes a slinkier approach than its predecessor, though is no less titillating. Aided by vocalist MOON, the track is about a relationship falling apart. Both singers’ vocals are a bit restrained throughout the entire song, complementing each other but never truly coming together, lending to the theme of miscommunication.

“Rebound” is an all-English release with a title that promises exactly what the song delivers. WOODZ gives his all in this song about being someone’s rebound, injecting acute heartbreak into his delivery. It’s a sad note to end the album on, but it’s one that lets WOODZ shine as a vocalist.
