B.I Makes His Solo Debut with Melodic New Song, “Midnight Blue”

Kim Hanbin also known as B.I has made his formal solo debut with the release of his new EP, Midnight Blue (LOVE STREAMING), supported by the lead single, “깊은 밤의 위로 (Midnight Blue).” All three songs were co-written by Hanbin himself and released under the newly established 131 Label. All proceeds and royalties from the album will be donated to World Vision, an international humanitarian aid organization in which Hanbin has been involved with in the past to help children in need. Therefore, the project is called LOVE STREAMING because Hanbin hopes his listeners can spread love through streaming his music.

Despite his hip-hop origins, all three songs on the new EP are classified as ballads. The album’s title track, “깊은 밤의 위로 (Midnight Blue)” is a subdued ballad, which Hanbin hopes will provide comfort to those enduring pain alone—a very fitting universal message that resonates with everyone living in the current state of the world. The song is accompanied by an illustrated music video with the titular character finding comfort in memories of his mother. Many fans have theorized that the story of the music video was inspired by Hanbin’s own life.

“Remember Me” is performed with an acoustic guitar and with the lyrics, Hanbin reminisces about his past and hopes the people he interacted with will remember him. The final song on the album is “내 걱정 (Blossom),” where Hanbin comforts his fans to not worry about him for he is doing well now. With mellow production and Hanbin’s melodic rap, the songs create a very emotional atmosphere. All tracks were released partially as demos via Soundcloud by Hanbin over the course of last year. With his new label and this beautiful EP out, Hanbin’s future looks bright and exciting. Watch the music video for “깊은 밤의 위로 (Midnight Blue)” below!
