PIXY Continues Their Story With First Mini-Album, Fairy Forest: BRAVERY
Rookie girl group PIXY is back with their first mini-album titled Fairy Forest: Bravery, promoted by the lead single, “Let Me Know.” The girls continue the story introduced in their debut single, “Wings.” The comeback is once again accompanied by a world view movie, giving insight into the new chapter of their story. In the new short film, viewers watch the members dubbed as fairies as they make an important decision in order to move forward in their story—a decision involving temptation and greed as the evil witch asks for a fairy to be sacrificed in exchange for a beautiful shimmering pair of wings.
The new track and its music video continue the story of the world view movie as the audience finds PIXY sacrificing member Dia to the evil witch in exchange for the wings. The lead single, “Let Me Know,” mixes a banging EDM beat with strong rap performance maintaining the dark tone introduced in their debut. The track also uses a bardcore flute sample which is dubbed as the “whistle of the witch” in PIXY’s lore. The flute can be heard in other tracks in the album as well and is intended to symbolize the overarching theme of temptation.
The album’s B-sides continue the story of their lore and explain different aspects of their story. “The Moon” is a dance-pop track with the “whistle of the witch” being used to create an addictive hook. Lyrically, the track gives further insight about the “red moon” seen in the world view movie and how it has illuminated the members’ world but has also seeped negative emotions in their minds. “Greedy” portrays the members’ greed for the wings and their selfishness over a percolating melody. B-side tracks conclude with “Insomnia,” a hip-hop track performed over an acoustic guitar and whispery vocals. The track shares the story of the witch whispering to the fairies, injecting negative thoughts and leaving them sleepless. The physical version of the album includes a rock remix of their debut track, “Wings.”
