We Definitely Saved NCT 127 in our Memories

NCT 127, somewhat out of nowhere, announced a collaboration with Amoeba Culture, a South Korean independent, mostly hip-hop-focused record label founded by Dynamic Duo members and current CEO Go Kyungmin. And although it is not a full review and you won’t find our usual pointing system down below, here’s a spoiler: “Save” is a 10/10 song.

Amoeba Culture actually hinted about the collaboration on May 26 before the official teaser came out. Despite the hip-hop background of the parties, “Save” is a dance and EDM-heavy electronic pop track composed by Dynamic Duo’s Gaeko and well-known producer philtre

“Save” is very futuristic and upbeat, and the music video is just as powerful visually, filled with charismatic dance moves. Each moment is well thought out and very aesthetically pleasing with its symmetrical frames. The neon-lit spaceship setting is full of neo modernist and synthetic elements with some hints of plants that were definitely lifted out of their natural surroundings. The centerpiece in the middle of this mini modern jungle says “Save the wild. Save environment. Save the world. Save the moment,” giving the whole concept a little deeper meaning.

”Save” Digital Track

This song could easily just be praise for the friendship between the members, or a love letter from NCT 127 to fans—or even a love letter to Earth, about saving all the memories from our planet as the group seemingly already took off with their spaceship, turning back to the previously mentioned glass centerpiece. But maybe I’m just overthinking, and it’s simply a great summer party song. The energy is consistent throughout the song, which unfortunately means there is no outstanding drop, but the chorus is rather catchy.

My point is that everything about this collaboration is very neo-futuristic and fits the Neo Culture Technology concept of NCT, showing that Amoeba Culture understood NCT well, making this collaboration into a nice match.

In our NCT Dream Hot Sauce album review we said that the members are ready to make the universe their stage, but in “Save,” Taeyong confirms that “the universe is our stage.” Since I consider him the leader of the whole NCT system, I’ll take it as he—or Gaeko, Choiza, and THAMA who wrote the lyrics—meant all of the units, and I highly agree.

We are ready for NCT 127 to “take us to infinity” and we hope this collaboration is a premonitory sign of a similarly strong comeback soon. Check out the “Save” music video below:
