Throwback Thursdays: Add a Touch of Swag

Ready for an end-of-the-week pick-me-up? This Throwback Thursday will help hype you up for a fun weekend with these party songs. 

“BLING BLING” - iKON

“Bling Bling” by iKON is chock full of swag, from the tune to the music video. The song begins with a blaring horn and chanting that leads right into a heavy bass and makes you want to crank up the volume in your car. The use of the lyrics “bling bling” in various intonations adds to the swag in this song. The music video uses dark colors, with the members in various street wear dancing along, throwing money, making the Korean street food dessert hotteok, and just having un partying together. One of the most memorable parts is the members bobbing their heads in sync towards the end of the music video. 

“HookGA” - HIGH4 20 feat Hwasa

Full of synth and heavy bass, “HookGA” by HIGH4 20 is a party song through and through. The chorus begins with one member saying, “HookGA,” before dropping into the beat that makes this song so catchy. Hwasa’s sultry voice is a stunning addition to “HookGA,” as her featured rap break really adds another layer to this song. The video shows the duo in various creative scenes, with a dance break at the chorus that really makes “HookGA” such a cool song.

“Zero For Conduct” - Block B BASTARZ

If you are looking for a song to get out any frustration, “Zero for Conduct” by the Block B sub-unit Block B BASTARZ is the song of choice. Produced by ZICO, this song is all about the bad boys. The lovely voices of B-Bomb and U-Kwon bring a distinct contrast into this EDM song, while P.O.’s deep voice really enhances the aggressiveness of the song. The video matches the swagness and darkness of the tune—it was made for a mature audience, as it uses the dark imagery of behind the scenes of a night life full of gangs and drug lords. 

“DOPE” - BTS

“DOPE” by BTS is a sick song that is all about showing off and celebrating where your hard work has brought you. RM sets the stage and introduces the song before Jungkook comes in to pull the listener in further. The balance between the vocals and the energetic rap verses really flow well together throughout the song. This, added with the saxophone and heavy bass, makes this song such a bop. The video reflects the theme of hardwork as the members are dressed in various career uniforms, from racecar driver to doctor. Their dance performance is equally as powerful, as it feeds into the playfulness while keeping that cool sense of swagger through the choreography.
