TXT (Tomorrow x Together) has returned with a repackaged version of their summer album, The Chaos Chapter: FREEZE. The new version, The Chaos Chapter: FIGHT or ESCAPE, adds three new tracks to the original album including their new single, “LO$ER=LO♡ER.”

Toned down from its predecessor, “LO$ER=LO♡ER” is also a rock song. However, despite its mellower sound, the song matches the level of emotional complexity as “1x0=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You) feat. Seori.” The cinematic music video for the song helps the listener understand the deeper meaning behind the track. In a materialistic world where our survival in many situations depends on money and fortune, “LO$ER=LO♡ER” finds TXT coming to this realization the hard way. Each member represents different struggles faced by the younger generation and how they must always choose between either fighting or escaping. From being a part-time worker to a rising artist on the internet, the music video features five different storylines all coming to the same conclusion: to escape, you must fight.

The song’s lyrics, co-written by member Yeonjun, are also very clever and use the symbolism from the title’s stylization to drive home the song’s message. The post-chorus of the song contains the lyrics, “Lover with a dollar sign / Is a loser,” a commentary on the societal expectations of what it means to be successful in the world. As noted by Genius Korea, “LO$ER” with a dollar sign can be interpreted in different ways but regardless of its interpretation, the replacement carries weight.

The new B-side on the repack is “MOA Diary (Dubaddu Wari Wari).” The dance-pop track is a fan song for TXT’s fandom known as MOA and contains clever wordplay. The lyrics repeatedly use the word “moa (모아)” and switch between its two interpretations. The Korean word “모아” means “to gather” and the fandom name, MOA, is an abbreviation of “Moments Of Alwaysness,” therefore asking their fans to gather forever to support them. The album closes with an emocore version of their song “1x0=LOVESONG (I Know I Love You) ft. Seori.” The new version adds additional rock and metal instrumentation, amplifying its impact.

With the original album and its repackage version, TXT’s The Chaos Chapter presents a powerful statement through its lyrics, sound, and visuals that not only resonantes with Gen Z, but anyone who has ever felt overwhelmed by societal pressures and expectations. With a sound that brings listeners back to the emo pop-rock era of the early 2000s and lyrics that reflect the struggles of the present day, TXT has created an impactful, relevant, and memorable album.
