The members of BDC first came into the spotlight on Produce X 101, representing BRANDNEW MUSIC alongside former X1 member Lee Eunsang. The trio debuted together in late 2019 with single album Boys Da Capo, and most recently completed their trio of albums in the series THE INTERSECTION. The Kraze sat down with the trio to discuss their comeback, their charms, and much more.

Q: For our readers who are getting the chance to know you for the first time, can you please give a little introduction about yourself?

Sihun: Hi, this is Kim Sihun from BDC, and I’m the leader, in charge of rap and dance.

Seongjun: Hi, I’m Hong Seongjun who wants to be an all-rounder with mellow vocals.

Junghwan: Hi, I’m Yun Junghwan, “height” of the BDC.

Q: Congratulations on your comeback! Could you please tell our readers and your fans more about “MOONLIGHT” and your album, THE INTERSECTION: CONTACT?

Seongjun: This album, THE INTERSECTION: CONTACT is the finale album of our trilogy series THE INTERSECTION. It contains a story of CONTACT, which has been led by the inevitable force that pulls each other beyond the previously released albums, BELIEF and DISCOVERY. This album is full of tracks that maximizes the charm of each member and also shows harmony of three members. Among them, the title track “MOONLIGHT” is a track that contains a mysterious vibe by adding our mellow vocals on top of lyrics that maximizes the dreamy image of the moonlight.

Q: While preparing for your latest album, what has been your favorite part of the process?

Sihun: During the “MOON RIDER” promotion, I was very happy to have this sense that we might start doing the next following promotion right away when I was recording the first side-track.

Seongjun: I was happy that we got to meet Fine sooner, compared to the previous gap.

Junghwan: Even though we didn’t have enough time for practicing choreographies, I was proud that we were in a great match when filming the music video.

Q: To follow up on the previous question, what was the most challenging thing and how did you overcome it?

Sihun: Since I don’t believe there’s [such a thing as] “overcome” in the world, I tried to practice more and get my mind straight by getting used to the hard time and adapting myself to it.

Seongjun: I kept practicing. When it doesn’t work, I overcame it by getting strength from reading Fine’s letters and support messages.

Junghwan: As soon as I started thinking, “How/When can I finish this,” I made any physical move.

Q: Is there a type of sound or concept that BDC wants to try next with your next release?

Sihun: I’d like to try tracks that are easy on the ears. Like BTOB’s “Remember that” or “It’s Okay.”

Seongjun: I’d like to try either a sentimental track like “REMEMBER ME” or a track with a bright vibe.

Junghwan: I’d like to try Electronic and Korean fusion music.

Q: What do you think makes BDC unique compared to others?

Sihun: A triangle-like charm that shows off an individual's charm at each vertex and when each vertex gets connected, it becomes a perfect shape of triangle.

Seongjun: Harmony of three of us, each member worth more than a hundred people, a perfect place to find emotionally stimulating ballad songs.

Junghwan: When combined with each member’s charm, it shows a colorful, rainbow-colored BDC.

Q: If you could collaborate with any other artist, who would it be? What kind of content would it be and why?

Sihun: I’d like to do a collaboration with Lauv. I want to sing together because I’m a fan of his and I usually listen to his songs a lot.

Seongjun: I’d like to perform with BTOB. I have been a fan of them since I was young, so I’d like to sing with them.

Junghwan: I’d like to work with ZICO. I’ve always admired him since I was young, and I was influenced by him a lot in various ways including music.

Q: If you weren't an idol member what would you be doing?

Sihun: I’d be working on something related to clothes. Maybe doing a part time job at a clothing store and studying.

Seongjun: I don’t even want to imagine. A world without Fine..? It’d be a disaster.

Junghwan: Maybe….singer/songwriter. I think I’d still do the music.

Q: What are some things you do to relax when you are done with schedules for the day?

Sihun: We go back to our dormitory first and I either play a game or lay down.

Seongjun: Either monitor the schedule or deeply think about how I spent the day.

Junghwan: I write lyrics a bit or watch videos a bit and I go to sleep right away.

Q: What are you currently watching (movies, TV shows) and recommend for fans to see?

Sihun: New Journey to the West’s Spring Camp! It motivates me to go camping so I recommend it.

Seongjun: “MOONLIGHT” music video! Technically it’s not a movie, but it’s like watching a movie ^^ If you haven’t seen it, I recommend you to watch it.

Junghwan: New Journey to the West and Kang’s Kitchen! It’s so fun and I’m watching it again.

Q: What are some new hobbies that you’d like to try out?

Sihun: I want to try fishing!

Seongjun: I want to try studying and reading.

Junghwan: I want to try climbing.

Q: What are some things you’re looking forward to doing in the future when the world is finally open (traveling, touring, etc.)?

Sihun: Performance in front of Fine! I also want to do the tours.

Seongjun: I’d like to meet Fine, do concerts, and would also like to go abroad.

Junghwan: I’d like to do a concert with Fine and also travel.

Q: Last question, is there anything specific you’d like to share with your fans and our readers?

Sihun: “MOONLIGHT” is really good track so please stream it a lot and send us a lot of love~~

Seongjun: Hi Fine, I always miss you, thank you and love you 😍😍. Let’s be together for good~!! For The Kraze readers, I’d be so grateful if you can remember BDC, Hong Seongjun from BDC, and if you look forward to us! Have a great day ☺️

Junghwan: We’ll try to become a BDC that shines like the moonlight, please support us and send us lots of love!!
