Weeekly is Back with Another Certified Summer Banger

If there’s one thing Weeekly has done since their debut, it’s pump out bop after bop. The girls have maintained a cute and carefree style with their title releases since debut, and that certainly remains true with new release “Holiday Party.” If you’re a fan of the upbeat, bubbly type of pop, then you won’t be disappointed with their latest comeback. And even if that’s not your cup of tea, you’ll find yourself grooving along to this addictive track.

Much like previous release “After School,” the track opens up with an addictive melodic sequence that definitely captures your attention. The beat is somewhat simple, but in the best way, as it allows more room for the vocals to shine through. Sometimes simplicity is best, and in this case it also helps to pick out the harmonization, especially in the chorus. The rap verses are toned down to match the lightness of the vocals, which is a very well-planned out detail, and it brings more cohesion to the song. Most of the vocal lines are also in a higher register, which lends itself to the cutesy concept while not being totally overbearing, as high registers can sometimes be. Overall it’s just a very simple and catchy track that instantly becomes addictive.

As expected, the video is accompanied by bright tones and colors, with many scenes appearing to be shot with a bright pink filter. The fun animations added into the video really drive home the concept and are a nice addition to the overall atmosphere. As expected of a song titled “Holiday Party,” the video shows the girls in a cheery mood in different vacation activity settings. There’s definitely a youthful feel to the behavior of the girls as well. As far as choreography goes, it's very fun but also seems to be fairly intense at some points. If you needed a little pick-me-up, this video and comeback in general definitely gives off the necessary sunny vibes.
