Queenz Eye Talks Debut, First Impressions, Self Care, and More in Exclusive Interview with The Kraze.

With the release of their mini-album Queenz Table on October 24, 2022, Queenz Eye made their great debut. The six member group, with the help of a translator*, sat down with The Kraze via Zoom to give fans an inside look at their lives. Wonchae, Damin, Narin, Ahyoon, Hannah, and Jenna talk us through their debut journey and the fun filled moments they’ve shared so far.

Who is Queenz Eye?

The talented sextet debuted under Big Mountain Entertainment with their long awaited mini-album Queenz Table and features four songs: “Yummy Yummy,” “Before&After,” and instrumentals of both songs. The songs are a very upbeat pop tempo with underlying old school vibes.

A Conversation with the Group

Q: You guys obviously were training for a while before you got to debut, so how did it feel going from practice rooms and private training to finally being on the debut stage?

Narin: We have been in different companies and we were able to come together two years ago and practice, and it was thanks to all the girls that we were able to debut.

Wonchae: Being able to finally see the fans and showing our performances made us feel really happy.

Q: Oh, I'm so glad. I bet you guys were excited and happy to see everyone in person finally. How does it feel now after you debuted?

Damin: Everything is still very new, and we are still trying to adjust to this new life. Whenever fans come up to us, we are always like, “Oh, how do you guys know us?” Everything feels a bit unrealistic, but we are adjusting to it.

Q: What were your first impressions of each other?

[All the members spoke among each other]

Queenz Eye: Our first impression of Wonchae, at first she didn't seem like a very charismatic person, but now she’s one of the funniest people and also like an older sister you can rely on.

Hannah: I first saw Damin on television. My first impression of Damin was, “Oh my god, she’s so cute,” but when I met her in person, she was actually really tall and I was surprised.

[General member consensus that everyone wants to squeeze her cheeks]

QE: When we first saw Narin, she was in pink and pink is her favorite color and her skin was very clear. When we started stretching and getting ready for practice, she went all in even though it was just stretching, so it was very impressive. She was also very outgoing, so it was a strong characteristic we felt when we first saw her.

D: I was surprised because [Ahyoon’s] face was very small and she was wearing a mask. She was very nice.

Jenna: From day one [Ahyoon] was very kind and she helped me with my walking.

QE: She was just a very nice person.

QE: For Hannah, she is actually the oldest of the members and none of us knew that because she was so cute and baby-like.

D: When I heard there was a university student, I was very surprised when I found out that it was Hannah.

QE: For Jenna, everyone is saying that she was a baby, she was very cute.

D: She was wearing round pearl earrings when I first saw her and that was impressive to me.

H: When I first saw Jenna, she was 14 and I felt like it was surprising to debut with Jenna even though she was such a baby.

W: Whenever I saw Jenna, she was always smiling and she still is always smiling whenever I look at her.

Q: I know “Yummy Yummy” was the debut single. What were your thoughts when you heard it completed?

Ahyoon: When I first heard “Yummy Yummy,” I felt like, “Oh this is Queenz Eyes’ song,” and when the guitar started to play, all the members started dancing. It was impossible to not dance to the song.

Q: Now that you guys released your mini-album, what should fans expect from you in the future music wise?

W: Music wise, regardless of the message, we want to make music that supports the fans. Since each one of the members has different strengths and unique characteristics, all that is left is continuously growing and evolving as a group.

Q: For Queenz Table, I really do like the name because it sounds powerful. It sounds like everyone that is sitting down with you is powerful and a queen as well. How are you hoping people relate to that message?

W: Since it's our first album, we really wanted to say, “Hey, this is Queenz Eyes’ music. Do you wanna try?”

Q: I really like that, because it's like inviting people to listen to your music. While you’re inviting people in, what are some fun facts you’d want your fans to know about you?

W: I really like Bungeoppang (a traditional Korean snack) especially in the winter, and since it’s getting cold, I really recommend others to try it. If ever fans get the chance to come to Korea, I really recommend it!

D: I have a very cute image, but I also have a very mature side to me too and I want people to know that.

N: This might be TMI, but in our dorm we do laundry every night. It's a good time to have a chat with the members.

A: My fun fact is that I am multilingual! I can speak Korean, English, and Japanese. I’m still learning though.

H: I actually have a New Zealand accent because I lived in New Zealand for four years when I was young. Some fans caught that when we did the fan calls.

J: People might think when they first meet me that I might be a bit odd, but I actually have a lot of thoughts.

Q: I was listening to “Before&After.” Personally, I really like that song. Do you guys have a favorite lyric of the song that you like to listen to or dance to?

N: I really like the part [singing] “Before & After.” I really like the part that has the title in it; it has the most catching part.

Q: What are some places that you guys want to visit once you start touring and performing live?

W: 1, 2, 3!

QE: Everywhere!

The Kraze: I’m excited! You guys have to come to Florida! No one ever comes to Florida.

W: (with her pinky in the air) We promise!

Q: Did you guys always want to become idols or did you have a previous dream job?

D: When I was in third grade, I wanted to be a flight attendant.

H: I really wanted to be a variety show TV producer. I even made a club in high school, but while being active in the club, I realized maybe I want to be in the show rather than producing it.

A: I wanted to be a fashion designer and a nurse.

Q: Both at the same time?

A: Yes!

J: When I was 12, my dream was to be a contemporary dancer, but then I got into K-Pop and I wanted to become an Idol.

W: Narin and I always wanted to be idols.

Q: Do you guys have a favorite activity to do after having a long day to relax?

J: The moment I find healing is when I watch vlogs on YouTube or Instagram. I really like the vibe of them.

H: After a really long day, I like to take long showers or go on a walk.

A: I like to call my mom after a long day, that's how I de-stress.

W: I like to make a shower playlist and take a really long, good, hot shower then go to bed.

D: I really like to watch Mukbangs on YouTube, and I also like to write in my diary before bed.

N: I agree, I like to take hot showers and go to bed too.

Q: Do you guys have any specific goals, such as meeting people or winning a specific award? Something you guys really want to do as you guys get bigger or more introduced into the industry?

W: We want to have a big stadium concert with all the fans. It would be a good opportunity to fill the stadium with our voices and our fans.

Q: I saw on YouTube that you guys came up with your own choreography. How was that process?

QE: For “Yummy Yummy,” the girls split off into two groups. Wonchae, Damin, and Hannah's group was having a hard time, so they bought roasted nuts and as they were eating them, that's how the point part of the choreography was born.

QE: For Narin, Ahyoon, and Jenna's team, we kept reminding ourselves, “We can do this, we can do this, we can do this.” And a lot of the choreography they made was used in the final cut of the music video.

Q: Do you guys have any go-to snacks that you guys like to eat?

QE: We have a variety of snacks. We drink a lot of diet soda and also eat a lot of kimbap.

The six girls were very sweet, professional, and charming through the whole interview. It’ll really be hard for fans to pick a bias in a group where each member is just as charismatic as the next. We’re excited to see what's to come from the girls of Queenz Eye!
