Can’t “Back Down” From P1Harmony
The six-member group P1Harmony is back with their fifth mini-album HARMONY : SET IN just four months after their last comeback. This mini-album opens new doors for the group as they venture out and try new concepts and styles of music. The group also made their first U.S. debut on The Kelly Clarkson Show to perform their title track.
The group released the title track “Back Down” as well as a music video that takes place in a gritty city where the boys dance in colorful sets. The music video starts with all the boys getting electrocuted by a button titled “Harmony Protocol,” and it seems to be the thing they fight over for the entire music video. Throughout the song, we get a chance to hear the various styles of rap that members Jongseob and Intak have to offer. We also have the opportunity to finally hear some passionate vocals from member Soul, who’s known for rap and dance, as he breaks out into dance in the music video.
The title track is said to be about the idea of unity without the fear of backing down. With lyrics like, “We ain’t scared anymore,” the boys learn to pick themselves back up despite facing failure. The members pay homage to their song “Scared” off their second mini-album. In a way, the boys are saying that they are ready to move onto different things as a group and are ready to expand themselves without backing down.
The mini-album includes a total of six songs that all have a different style and sound. In a press release from FNC Entertainment, Jongseob says: “The mood of this album varies with each song, so it’s difficult to identify it with a single genre or description. There are many different feelings and points of views conveyed.” P1Harmony has been able to keep their genre different from other fourth generation boy groups, and their albums have always tried out different sounds within each song. HARMONY : SET IN is no different: from hip-hop dance songs like “Back Down” to slow, emotional ballads like “Better Together,” P1Harmony continues to shock fans and listeners with their ability to try different styles that tie well together into their album.
The boys have shown with each release how passionate they are towards their dancing and singing. Their fans, P1ece, have shown great appreciation towards the group and the new release and are excited to see what comes next with the boys.
