Wonho Is Back and He Has Got His “Eye On You”

Wonho has returned with his single album Obsession, and fans are happier than ever to hear new music from the soloist. On February 16, 2022, the single album was released and features two new songs, lead track "Eye On You" and "Somebody." The two songs may be some of Wonho's best work, fitting right into an already solid discography.

This time around, Wonho returns with the synth-pop song "Eye On You." Mature concepts are not unfamiliar to Wonho by any means, and as usual, it suits him well. It's a contrast to his last comeback Blue Letter, where Wonho served us pure pop bliss in lead single "BLUE." The EDM-filled song that is "Eye On You" brings us back to what Wonho has become known for - tracks with often harder beats that contrast his falsetto tones. The combination always hits the mark, with this release showcasing Wonho's ability not only to pull off more mature themes but do it effortlessly.

The music video for the song features Wonho and his backup dancers in various settings, with smooth transitions and a look in Wonho's eye that is chill-inducing. From dancing in a snow-covered forest to shots in only black and white with red chains, it's a style that Wonho executes well and keeps one pressing the replay button over and over again. During his comeback showcase, Wonho revealed that four individuals helped with the choreography, including SEVENTEEN's Hoshi. Wonho credited Hoshi with having the idea for the eye gaze part of the choreography.

The other track featured on Obsession is "Somebody," an English track with a killer bass and more pop-alternative sounds as opposed to "Eye On You." It's an emotional song with straightforward lyrics like, "I'm Falling to Pieces/Wide Awake, But I'm barely alive/Let go of the sadness/And the burden that's holding me back." Wonho's sweet falsetto is the perfect vocal to carry this emotional message, and the listener is feeling his emotions as well. In all, Obsession is a wonderful release, with two songs that further showcase Wonho’s talen that continues to grow.
