Dalshabet Get Revenge in “Someone Like U" Comeback

The members of Dalshabet marked their fifth anniversary and showed their ability to stand firm as four with their ‘80s-inspired comeback “Someone Like U.”

On January 4, 2016, Dalshabet kicked the year off with the retro dance track “Someone Like U,” produced by the hit-maker BraveBrothers. It marked the group’s first comeback as four after the departure of members Jiyul and Gaeun. Although bright in melody, the song is about payback and wishing that a heartbreaker one day experiences the same pain they’ve caused. The track was featured on the mini-album Naturalness alongside the member’s four solo tracks and group ballad produced by vocalist Soobin.

The music video for “Someone Like U” is filled with loud pops of color, matching the neon fashion of the ‘80s. Viewers go along with the girls on their crusade to wreak payback after realizing that they’re all being cheated on by the same guy. The members plot their revenge route, flex their muscles in a quick training montage, and grab their pink guns and best ball gowns to catch the man in the act at the club.

Dalshabet debuted the first live performance of “Someone Like U” on M!COUNTDOWN shortly after the album’s release on January 7, 2016. The stage design incorporated silver bubbles that created a disco ball effect, and the members kept the styling simple with blue jeans, white t-shirts, and coral-colored blazers that accentuated their curves. The blazers were cleverly used as a point part for the choreography, in which the members opened and flung the tail ends while they strutted across the stage.

Dalshabet wrapped promotions for "Someone Like U" in February, and despite not snagging their first music show win, the album Naturalness topped the charts on Japan's Tower Records and peaked at No. 4 on China's YinYueTai charts. The music video also ranked at No. 5 for Billboard's “Most Viewed K-Pop Videos in America” for 2016.

Dalshabet went on to promote in Taiwan, holding their first fanmeet in the area. They also became a popular group among military men, regularly performing "Someone Like U" and their previous releases like "Joker" for those in service. They wrapped up the year with what became their last release as a group, FRI. SAT. SUN.
