Soothing Sounds of Nighttime in the City

This week’s Throwback Thursday is all about songs that are reminiscent of a city at night. These calming R&B songs give a kick of nostalgia, good feelings, and peace with the lofi sounds.

Zion.T - “Yanghwa Bridge”

“Yanghwa Bridge” brings powerful emotions and sentimental lyrics with this beautiful ballad. Zion.T’s distinct vocals carry out the passion and deep feelings from growing and changing in life. The music video is quite simple, using heavy contrast with the bright city and car lights that shine out of the darkness, particularly when Zion.T wears his stark white outfit.

offonoff - “Cigarette (feat. Tablo, MISO)”

“Cigarette” hits you with feelings of nostalgia with both the tune and the lyrics. The soothing sounds will suck you in with the serenity. It features Tablo with an English verse, which feels quite poetic and very thoughtful. MISO is also featured in this song, adding a layer with her vocals pairing beautifully with offonoff and Tablo. The music video continues this nostalgic feel as it is all in black and white. It follows a girl who is sitting at a table, reading and holding a cigarette, giving the viewer a glimpse at a simple moment in life.

Colde - “와르르♥”

Colde’s voice is sure to give you a chill in his dreamy song, “와르르♥.” You can’t help but to feel as though you have been transported to the lofi beats and beauty in his vocals, particularly when he changes to a higher pitch for the chorus, as it flows so effortlessly. The music video is a bit unique as it follows Colde wandering into various movie scenes and clips that range from spooky to silly (with lots of cute animals, of course!) to ethereal backdrops, adding to the dreamy feel this song gives the listener.

ELO - “OSAKA”

“OSAKA” immediately grabs you in with ELO’s first word he belts out. Rapper ZICO has a verse as well and actually produced the song. “OSAKA” is so soothing throughout and will for sure make you reminisce of a city you have visited and the fond memories you hold from there. The music video emulates this feeling flawlessly as it centers around the viewer following ELO on a trip as he records the various spots with his camera.

What is a song that makes you feel nostalgic?
