“Forever Only” Was Worth the Wait for an Official Jaehyun Solo
What we’ve been all waiting for since his feature on d.ear’s “Try Again” in 2017, and the (still officially unreleased) “Lost” last year, NCT Jaehyun's first solo release after debut is finally here! Released on August 18, "Forever Only" is the fourth song of SM STATION: NCT LAB, a project that will archive various music from NCT members.
K-Pop’s Valentine’s boy continues to be a hopeless romantic with the topic of love and loneliness. The lyrics, written by Jaehyun himself, show the desire to be by a specific someone’s side forever. The composition itself expresses matching emotions through its easy-going melody and repeated guitar riffs. Switching away from current trends, it’s refreshing and nostalgic. This R&B track also showcases a wider range of vocal tones from Jaehyun compared to what we get to hear from him in NCT group projects. He proves, once again, his all-rounder availability, leaving us longing for more and more.
The warm and aesthetic visual of the music video matches perfectly with Jaehyun’s vocals and the song’s emotions. The overall production of “Forever Only” is somehow beautifully sad and warmingly lonely; deep in emotions but still calming.
Look forward to NCT’s next MUSIC SPACE episode on YouTube to learn more about the track from Jaehyun himself!
