September Dramas to Welcome Fall With

It's hard to believe that summer is almost over. We've enjoyed time in the sun, and now it's time to get cozy and break out the pumpkin spice latte. One thing still just as hot as the summer sun are all the Korean dramas starting this month. Fans have their pick of genres to dive into, from shows with drug lords to golden spoons. Check out the dramas in September, and let us know which one you're most excited to watch!

Desperate Mr. X

Going from rags to riches can make anyone's head spin, but for Mr. A it is so much worse. He's been forced to resign from his job and is getting older. This realistic comedy-drama shows how a man will fight with everything he has to get himself back on top.

Desperate Mr. X is currently available on Wavve, but there are no subtitles as of yet.

Once Upon A Small Town

Once Upon a Small Town follows Han Jiyool (Choo Youngwoo), a veterinarian located in Seoul. He gets a call from his grandfather, and out of concern, he travels to Heedong Village, where his grandfather runs an animal clinic. While in town, he meets Ahn Jayoung (Red Velvet's Joy). 

Jayoung wants to work in the village as a police officer and is training to take her exam. She helps Jiyool solve minor problems when he realizes that his grandfather wants him to run the animal clinic while he travels the world for a few months. After spending some time together, their feelings develop. 

This romantic comedy is available on Netflix.

The Law Café

Four friends use their need to fight injustice to work at a law café. Kim Jungho (Lee Seunggi) is a prosecutor who is referred to as the Monster Genius. His friend Kim Yuri (Lee Seyoung) has brains and beauty. Once crowned Miss Korea, Yuri now fights crime as a hot-tempered lawyer. She decides to quit her firm and start a law café where she can help others that no one else will. When Yuri decides on a place to house her new business, she reaches out to the landlord. Imagine her surprise when she realizes it's Jungho. The two partner up and start a crazy business relationship.

The Law Café is currently airing and is available to watch on Kocowa and Viki

Narco-Saints

Based on actual events, Narco-Saints is about the life of Kang Ingu (Ha Jungwoo). An ordinary businessman goes to Suriname for business and gets caught up in a drug war. Now he has to work with the National Intelligence Service to take down the drug lord Jeon Yohwan (Hwang Jungmin).

The drama was released on September 9, 2022, and soon after, the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Suriname released a statement saying they were displeased with the portrayal of their country in the show.

Mental Coach Jegal

Mental Coach Jegal follows Je Galgil (Jungwoo), a former Taekwondo athlete who was banned from the sport after a scandal. After getting over the trauma of having to leave the sport he loved, he returns to the athletic village as a mental health coach. His goal is to help athletes who have fallen into slumps. 

One such athlete is speed skater Cha Gaeul (Lee Yoomi). She is a former world champion but is worried about fading out of the limelight. Since she can't focus on anything else, her racing times have been getting worse and worse. Gaeul feels like she doesn't have anyone to talk to, causing her much distress. That's when Galgil steps in.

The Golden Spoon

Lee Seungcheon (BtoB's Yook Sungjae) has a happy but low-income family, and while he's grateful for them, he longs for more. A series of events and a magical spoon allow Seungcheon to switch lives with his wealthy best friend. At first, he thinks everything is great, but everyone knows you can't change lives without having some sort of side effect. Now Seungcheon has to decide if he will stay in his new life and risk dealing with any adverse effects or return to a happy yet poor life.
