Thom Browne at New York Fashion Week
Last week, Thom Browne showcased his ready-to-wear line at New York’s Fashion Week, hosting some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry, from Erykah Badu to Queen Latifah. However, K-Pop fans were excited to see Johnny Suh and Eric Nam rocking the brand’s clothes in attendance at the show.
Thom Browne’s newest line shows a mix of muted colors: gray to black, white to red. The brand’s usual oversized look was paired with the childlike sense of how kids see the world for what it literally is. The first looks on the runway use bright colors on white garments, with long curled nails and alien-like headpieces to match the fantasy image. The brand’s exaggerated shoulder and hip silhouettes show a new side to their formal wear on the catwalk.
Johnny Suh at Thom Browne
Johnny Suh, a member of NCT, is one of the newest names of K-Pop to take the New York fashion industry by storm. The 28-year-old from Chicago made his fashion week debut, meeting designer Thom Browne in person too.
Johnny was spotted wearing Thom Browne’s gray checked suit along with its matching tie and jacket, embracing the brand’s uniform-inspired look to the max. Sitting in the front row, Johnny was among the likes of Lil Nas X and Queen Latifah—big names when it comes to celebrity personal styles.
Johnny’s first introduction to New York’s fashion scene was back in 2022, when he was personally handpicked by Peter Do to wear his newest pieces to New York’s annual Met Gala among some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry.
Eric Nam at Thom Browne
Eric Nam was also in attendance at Thom Browne’s Fall 2023 Ready-to-Wear show, posting up in a gray suit with blue accents, however, opting for the line’s pleated skirt over their straight-legged pants. The look challenging gender norms turned many heads, and the performer was excited to share photos online captioning them, “skirt era starts … now #thombrowne.”
Eric Nam and Johnny Suh snapped photos together at the event, showing off their friendship. Both have taken part in promoting K-Pop internationally through their music; NCT 127 finishing off their North and South American tours earlier this year, and Eric Nam finished his world tour last year. More is to come from K-Pop idols in the fashion scene, and we are looking forward to seeing more collaborations in the future.
