Rookie boy group TRENDZ has made their return with the second single album BLUE SET Chapter. [NEW DAYZ]! Since their debut a year ago in January 2022, the group has released two mini-albums and now two single albums, with the new title track “NEW DAYZ” showcasing a more serious concept in highlighting the struggles of youth. 

“NEW DAYZ” is a pop-rock track at its base, opening with an electric guitar riff that remains a main staple in the melody. While on the surface the track has a lighter feel, the lyrics portray a more serious tone. The contrast is interesting, especially since the melody on its own might give you the impression this track is an upbeat love song. The lyrics sing of the struggle of youth, as we grow up from naive kids to come to terms with the harsher realities of life. Despite the more abysmal tone in the message of the track, there’s an air of optimism present that leaves you with an overall positive message. 

The music video matches along with the message of the track, showcasing a storyline of the boys struggling not just with their own emotions, but even physical confrontations. The more optimistic message in the song is showcased via companionship, where they watch each others’ backs and take care of one another. The beauty in youth is showcased by the unbridled joy in their time spent together, despite whatever struggles they experience individually. At the core, it is a realistic and lovely message.
