EXO’S “LOVE ME RIGHT”
With the recent performances on Mnet’s Boys Planet of the famous 2015 EXO release, “LOVE ME RIGHT” has regained immense popularity throughout the K-Pop community. The dance pop track was released June 3, 2015 as the title track of their second repackage album LOVE ME RIGHT, just two months after their second full album EXODUS. With the repackage album came four new songs and a music video for the title track.
In the height of their popularity, the track brought EXO a whopping 11 music show wins, winning three back-to-back at Show Champion and Show! Music Core. The song even reached No. 3 on the Billboard World Digital Songs Chart and topped the Gaon Digital Chart right after the release.
The pop track starts off with a hard beat that immediately gets the audience up and dancing. From smooth raps to powerful vocals, it’s clear as to why this song was popular then and has just regained even more popularity. Right after the iconic high note and bridge from member D.O comes a beautiful harmonized chorus done by all members. The claps in the background of the harmony find a way to soothe the ears with the mixture of the vocals and subtle beats.
As the third generation of K-Pop came to a close and the fourth generation of boy groups came about, so did amazing covers of famous songs done before them. As of recently, EXO’s “LOVE ME RIGHT” has become a fourth gen hit as many boy groups have taken the challenge to perfect Chanyeol’s rap and D.O’s powerful vocals. Groups like ENHYPEN, The Boyz, CIX, and even K-Rock group Xdinary Heroes took the challenge and each put their own touch of talent into it.
After two years of no new group releases, EXO’s fanbase EXO-L are looking forward to an EXO fanmeet in Korea and awaiting what might be next for the group. Until then, they can enjoy new releases from members as they continue to release solo projects.
