Eric Nam Reimagined

2023 is ramping up to be another eventful year for Eric Nam as he is back again with another release! However, what makes this release more special is his revamped/reimagined version of his hit album There And Back Again. Officially titled, There And Back Again (Reimagined), Eric re-introduces the tracks from the original 2022 album, which transport listeners and fans into a whole different, heightened realm. The original in itself was already a great masterpiece but there is something about this new album that hits on a deeper level that will move you and make you feel things.

  1. “What If - Reimagined”

  2. *”Wildfire - Reimagined”

  3. “Admit - Reimagined”

  4. “I Don’t Know You Anymore - Reimagined”

What makes the reimagined album so special is that it slows the pacing down from the original, focusing a lot more on the acoustics and instrumentals rather than high-energy, pop style sounds. If this album can be described in only one word, it would be comfort. Whether happy or sad, this album feels like it’s giving you a hug as you go through joy, heartbreak, and love. Perhaps it’s the plucking of guitar strings that tug more at the heartstrings, but whatever magic  Eric has done in this album, it truly pulls you in. It should be noted that the lyrics of the songs have remained the same for the album, but it’s the feel, the emotion, and rawness of the reimagined version that elevates this album further.

While there isn’t a new music video, to coincide with this release Eric has released visualizers for all the tracks that have ambient scenes which set the tone for each song. For example, “Wildfire” features a dark, foggy forest; while it’s not something burning, the tone of the song itself is slow, somber, and mystifying. Whereas the visualizer for “I Don’t Know You Anymore” features waves rolling into and crashing up against the shore, and the reimagined song has a little bit of a tropical sound once the chorus hits.

Fans far and wide are falling in love with There And Back Again all over again and it’s hard to deny the pull that it brings. You'll find yourself discovering something new with the meaning of the lyrics or the tone of the song that you hadn’t caught before when you listened to the original. Nonetheless, Eric Nam truly brought a masterpiece of a reimagined album and there is hope that the reimagined versions will make their way to a setlist on a tour in the near future.
