aespa is Feeling “Spicy” in Anticipated Comeback

It has been a long time coming for girl group aespa to make their comeback, but they’re finally here with their third mini-album MY WORLD with the title track “Spicy.” aespa is ready for summer with this release!

The girls show off their fun side with “Spicy,” an upbeat dance track that captivates listeners immediately. Leader Karina charms fans as she starts the song, much like she has done in the past for other title tracks such as “Black Mamba,” “Next Level,” and “Savage.” The song definitely gives off an early 2000s vibe with not only the synth instrumentation and catchy beats but also the music video aesthetics. The bright colors, styling, and overall vibe make the girls look as if they appeared on the set of Mean Girls. It also easily gives off those summer vibes when the girls show off their choreography poolside in the bright sunshine. Even when the scenery changes to the dark house party scene, the bright color aesthetic doesn’t change in the styling of what the girls wear. This track is a great leadoff into summer releases!

MY WORLD features six songs, including the title track. Days leading up to the album drop, aespa released “Welcome to MY World'' which features their AI character naevis in the music video. This track in particular lets aespa showcase their raw vocals with a more gentle sound. The other four songs on the album are “Salty & Sweet,” “Thirsty,” “I’m Unhappy,” and “‘Til We Meet Again.” 

The album also broke a record with first-day sales: selling more than 1.19 million copies, only 6 days after girl group LE SSERAFIM set the record themselves with 1.02 million copies on their first-day sales. This is aespa’s second time as million sellers after having achieved that with Girls, their second mini-album.
