CIX Returns with “Save me, Kill me”

CIX have made their long-awaited comeback with their sixth EP album ‘OK’ Episode 2 : I’m OK, which was released May 29 and features four new tracks: “Back to life,” title track “Save me, Kill me,” “Curtain Call,” and “Color.”

CIX fans, a.k.a FIX, were first introduced to this title track by the name of their world tour, Save me, Kill me. CIX embarked on their tour earlier this year, visiting Europe, North America, and cities around Asia. “Save me, Kill me” displays a somber tone throughout its lyrics, where they express wishing to live their life freely without judgements.

The music video is a short film within itself, following each of the members in acting roles as they look back on the final moments of Yonghee’s character’s life as they stood as bystanders instead of helping him out.

“Save me, Kill me” serves as their first comeback after a year, and from their pre-orders and first-day sales alone, their growth as a group is apparent. This comeback sounds different to prior title tracks, showing a different side of themselves to new people who might have turned into fans after their tour.

‘OK’ Episode 2 : I’m OK goes on to showcase a variety of songs. “Back to life” begins this EP for a reason, with its emphasis on showing each member’s vocal tones. The ballad-like track holds a sincerity in it for FIX to hear and preps them for the rest of the EP.

Where “Back to life” and “Save me, Kill me” hold emotive beats, “Curtain Call” introduces a lighter, acoustic feel to the EP. The instrumentation through the chords on this track alone tells its own story, where the faint whistling notes carry the beat on further.

From start to finish, ‘OK’ Episode 2 : I’m OK proves itself as being an EP for their fans. The sentiment continues through to the final track “Color,” where its bass guitar and drums provide an emotive rock feel. I can see “Color” and “Curtain Call” being fan favorites at future shows.

‘OK’ Episode 2 : I’m OK is available now on Spotify and all streaming platforms.
