When in Cannes…
Throughout the month of May, Cannes became the hotspot for a variety of events and attracted a variety of people. The French city forecasted nothing but blue skies while everybody dressed to the tens.
When in Cannes, everybody wears their best. Here are some of my favorite looks!
Jennie of BLACKPINK
Jennie’s debut at the Cannes Film Festival was widely anticipated after it was announced that she would be featuring in the new series The Idol.
The Chanel Girl was dressed by her signature brand in their Spring 2020 haute couture black and white laced gown. The off-the-shoulder element was complimented by the black bow holding her hair back from the neckline; similar bows are found on her heels!
The 27-year-old shared her feelings about venturing into another sector outside of the music industry before stepping on the carpet to WWD, sharing, “It’s overwhelming, but I’m grateful and thankful—especially as it’s the first step in my acting career, I was honored to be able to come.”
Hyunjin of Stray Kids
Hyunjin has been steadily making his way through the fashion scene globally, popularizing not only himself, but Stray Kids along the way! Hyunjin was personally invited to attend the La Vacanza 2023 show collection by Dua Lipa and Donatella Versace, whom he was later pictured beside. The 23-year-old matched the weather as he wore a baggy linen two-piece set, paired with Versace accessories.
Stray Kids made a return to Europe last month for Music Bank Paris and it looks like France has a special place in their hearts. Hyunjin has shown his impact as many waited to see the star by trending his name on social media. Hopefully Europe sees more of him this year!
BIBI
BIBI made her Cannes debut at the premiere of her latest movie, Hopeless. The songstress was adorned in a gorgeous sleek, backless gown coupled with dainty details from the straps down to her single dangly earring.
BIBI is definitely someone to look out for as she continues to grow each year as an artist, songwriter, and as an actress. Hopefully we get to see BIBI more on our screens soon!
Ningning of aespa
aespa’s arrival on the red carpet was widely anticipated and the four members did not fail to deliver! The group had been invited this year by the jewelry brand Chopard, where they were adorned in their pieces on the carpet. Amongst each of their beautiful gowns, Ningning’s black and white Versace dress caught my eyes the most.
The 20-year-old’s gown gave glamor from its wide-hip silhouette to the train following it at the back. The matching necklace and earring set complimented the dress. Ningning showed that she is a natural on the carpet as did her signature looking-over-the-shoulder pose before heading inside, leaving everyone stunned over the group’s comfort on the red carpet.
