THE SHOW STOPPERS: AESPA

Naevis Calling! In the prime era of AI and technology, aespa is showing everyone how the power of futuristic concepts can take the world by storm. Debuting under SM Entertainment, the four girls are the newest girl group under the company since their seniors, Red Velvet. Just three years after debut they’re still the show stoppers of the fourth generation.

From music shows to runways, the four girls have found ways to step foot into the world that is K-Pop. The futuristic sounds incorporated into their songs make them 10 times more fun. Their debut song, “Black Mamba,” allowed them to enter the industry in such a strong way with a loud and intimidating beat. NingNing’s vocals make the song easier to listen to with her talented, silky voice. Not only does this song have a powerful energy to it but it’s also catchy in a way that brings listeners to watch, listen more, and dance. At least it does for me! Despite the sound and name of the song, the music video is quite colorful and plays into their strong futuristic concept!

My personal favorite thing a few aespa members have done is collaborate with fellow SM girls and create the group Girls On Top (GOT the Beat). Their song “Step Back” not only helped them gain fans but also brought them popularity in the industry. From a powerful start to finish, the song is not only catchy but also makes a statement of having girls step back from their men. Although this song brought some negative opinions, there were definitely more positive ones. A powerful sound from Karina and Winter made it easy for many new fans to also fall in love with the sound aespa has as a whole. If you’re a SM girl group lover, definitely check out GOT the Beat on top of aespa!

While aespa fans are awaiting new music from the girls, they can appreciate their presence in the fashion field as well as their performances overseas like their most recent at the Governors Ball in New York City! Until the new girls release new music, make sure to stream their releases since debut!
