First Love, Second Chances: Youthful Romance in My First First Love

My First First Love is one of my all-time favorite K-Dramas that you absolutely can't miss! But before we dive into this enchanting series, let's get the scoop on the storyline:

Tae O is a charming college student with good looks, great friends, and a wealthy family background. Sounds like he's living the dream, right? Well, there's one thing missing from his seemingly perfect life—the love of his life. Interestingly, many people believe that Tae  and his best friend of two decades, Songi, should be more than just friends. However, both adamantly claim that their relationship is purely platonic. Things take a dramatic turn when Songi, facing a challenging moment in her life, crosses paths with Tae's other best friend, Dohyeon. He is the quintessential straight-A student, hardworking and diligent, and soon, Songi finds herself falling for him. To add a delightful twist to the story, Songi ends up living under the same roof as Tae, along with his two other friends, the naive heiress Garin and the aspiring singer-actor Hun. A full rollercoaster of emotions, youthful adventures, and, of course, heartwarming romance!

Why is My First First Love one of my all-time favorite series? Well, let's start with the cast—a group of talented actors who bring their characters to life with incredible chemistry. Ji Soo plays the charming Tae O, while Jung Chaeyeon embodies Songi. Jinyoung takes on the role of the diligent Dohyeon, and Choi Ri shines as the naive Garin. This ensemble cast truly makes the series a joy to watch.

But that's not all—My First First Love offers not just one but two seasons, giving you an extra-long story development that keeps you hooked. If you're a Ji Soo fan, this series is an absolute must-watch, although chances are you might have already enjoyed it multiple times.

This K-Drama is a lighthearted coming-of-age story, perfect for those moments when you're craving a feel-good show. With eight episodes in each season and an average runtime of 50 minutes, it's incredibly binge-worthy.

What sets My First First Love apart is its beautifully written narrative that explores life's ups and downs, the complexities of love and friendships, and the resilience of bonds. It delves into how friendships can withstand the tests of time and hardships. The performances by the actors are nothing short of amazing, making it one of my favorite K-Dramas to date.

I'd also highly recommend My First First Love to viewers in their 20s. It's a relatable journey for anyone navigating the confusing waters of young adulthood, where balancing college studies and potential romances can feel overwhelming. As you watch the characters stumble through their attempts at first love, you will likely find yourself laughing with them, shedding a tear or two, and cheering them on—just like your own squad would do for you!

I am definitely a fan of love triangles in K-Dramas! There is something about the tension and uncertainty they bring to the story that keeps viewers eagerly anticipating the outcome.

In My First First Love, you need to be prepared to face a new level of dilemma. Tae and Songi do seem like the perfect first loves, and their chemistry is undeniable. They complement each other beautifully, making it easy to root for their relationship. On the other hand, Songi's growing connection with Dohyun is incredibly sweet and sincere, providing a different kind of romance that is equally captivating.

Perhaps you might also feel a sense of déjà vu while watching this series, and it was fascinating to discover that My First First Love is actually a remake of the 2015 drama Because It's the First Time. The fact that it shares the same production company and has the original writer as one of its creators certainly adds an intriguing layer to your K-Drama journey. It is a testament to the timeless appeal of these stories that can be reimagined and enjoyed by new audiences.

So: If you are a fan of youthful love stories filled with heart, humor, and a dash of complexity, My First First Love should definitely be on your K-Drama radar. Whether you are navigating the ups and downs of your own first love or reminiscing about those unforgettable moments, this series captures the essence of youthful romance in a relatable and endearing way with one final question you will be left with: In the battle of first loves, who would you ship—Tae and Songi? Or Songi and Dohyun?
