Out of This World with XG’s NEW DNA
Coming in hot and leaving nothing but a blaze in their wake, XG has had a monstrous and successful year as the girl group has been rising through the ranks as a top-tier artist in the world. With only a year under their belt, XG has been making moves and releasing hit after hit. All summer long, they’ve been teasing the release of their first ever mini-album and it’s finally here. Titled NEW DNA, XG offers up a great mix of songs that will have you either up and moving or bobbing your head along.

It’s XG’s World and We’re Just Living In It
Ever since the release of “GRL GVNG” earlier this summer, XG has been playing around with the concept that the group is not your typical human girl, but rather supernatural/other-worldly aliens from a different planet or universe. With the following releases of “TGIF” and “NEW DANCE,” we see this futuristic world and their supernatural powers showcased through their music videos, which is followed up once again with their latest music video “PUPPET SHOW.”
“PUPPET SHOW,” however, is a little bit different: this time, they aren’t on Earth, but rather we can assume what is their home world. After being away for so long, it looks like the girls have returned back to their world and don’t quite fit in. They’ve been drawn to this light that others in their world are drawn to but can’t reach without severe consequences. However XG, while at first being prevented from jumping in, prove that they really aren’t like others and make the courageous jump and discover that they are the ultimate beings that can cross worlds and survive, and, in the end, ruling over their world.
XG-lore aside, “PUPPET SHOW” is no doubt another solid banger from XG, that is so catchy and addictive. They certainly do not fail to bring another dance track that gets the blood flowing, and you can’t help but get mesmerized with their vocals and rap. Don’t be surprised if you catch yourself singing this song. “PUPPET SHOW” talks about how it would be like if girls ruled the world; instead of being played by boys, they’ll take matters into their own hands and make them out to be their puppets instead.
It is truly great to see XG consistently releasing music and continuing to carve out a space for themselves. I, and many other fans, can’t help but want more music from them and hopefully the next release will be a full album as they continue to conquer the world with their talents and musicality. It is curious to see if they will continue with the supernatural/alien type of concept but, nonetheless, if you haven’t gotten into XG yet, you need to get on it. You are definitely missing out.
